I have been working on a 6'x4' gaming table to use with my Space Wolves and thought I would take you through the process of how i pulled this together.
I need to be able to pack the terrain away between games so I decided on using 3x 2'x4' sheets of 6mm
MDF as the base of the terrain.
I painted the boards with PVA glue and then coated them with a generous layer of fine sand. I left a couple of areas unsanded on two of the boards so that I could add some ice detail to the table. I then proceeded to chop up some plasticard and created a tessellated pattern around the edges of the ponds (unsanded areas) to simulate broken ice sheets.
After giving the boards a final spray of watered down PVA glue and allowing it to dry thoroughly I moved on to painting.
I started with spraying the ponds dark blue and then covering everything with white. I was careful not to use too much white on the ponds though as I wanted to have the blue shine through a little.
