Hi. Quick question for you guys. Strength of these two is listed as an "X", and it was driving us nuts during an Apocolypse game yesterday. How does one resolve the strength issue for them (not clear in the Codex, and was tough to find in the Rulebook)? Automatically a wound on a 4? The description of the D-cannon makes it sound as though it should be an automatic wound on a 2 or better! Heck, you're getting the Warp thrown at you!

It should say in the wepon's entry...
I remember reading the Eldar Codex and there is a clarification somewhere in there... can't remember where though.

That's the problem - I can't find it in there anywhere!

Then look harder!!!!!!
I have a feeling that the Longrifle wounds on a 4+ automatically because it's a sniper but otherwise uses S3 but i can't be sure...

Wraith Cannon has no Str Value. It has special rules regarding how it deals Damage.

Page 46 In the Eldar Codex should describe what you need to roll to wound or to penetrate armor.

The Eldar Long Rifle is a Sniper weapon with some special rules.

Page 38 in the Eldar codex describes the to hit roll and AP values for the gun.
Page 31 in the Main Rule Book describes how Sniper weapons roll wounds. (see also the sections about Rending and Pinning)

The thing is, the forum will get into trouble if we post entire rules here. We try to direct people to the rule books where they can read the rules for themselves instead.

In the case of the sniper rifle, it always forces an Armour Save for targets with a Toughness value on a 4 or 5 (a 6 means rending which ignores Armour Saves), and counts as Strength 3 against targets with an Armour Value.

In the case of the D-cannon, it never uses a Strength value. Ever. This is the same for wraithcannons. They always wound on a 2+ against targets with a Toughness value. Against targets with an armour value, they forego the usual armour penetration roll in favour of a 1-in-3 chance to do nothing, glance or penetrate.

I think the D-cannon was driving all of us nuts over the weekend - none of us had ever used it (or seen it used) before, and we all figured it HAD to had strength assigned to it (after all, every OTHER weapon does)! I wasn't too pleased with how it worked, though, and may not use it again until the next Apocolypse game. Thank you to everyone for pointing me in the right direction as to how to figure out these weapons!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
OK, I read the book/Codex sections suggested. So the D-cannon follows the same rules & description as the Wraithcannon except for the 24" range? Also, re: long rifle. Why is it listed in book as having AP 6 but can be treated as AP 2 rolling to wound & an AP 1 for rolls of 5-6 (Pathfinder)?
