Hi chaps.

I would like ideas on obtaining the following Grey Knight models, such that each miniature is unique.

Servitors

I was thinking I could get 3 GW servitors and bluetack on either a multi melta or plasma cannon. Are there other alternatives? What is the best way to obtain multi melta and plasma cannon servitor arms?

Death Cult Assassins

GW only do 2 models. Is the best option for me to buy Dark Elf Corsairs? They look okey to use as-is, but perhaps I can find some human heads for them, or snip their pointy ears off

Crusaders

Again, the problem is that GW only do 2 models. Chaos Warriors?

Psykers

Is my only option Empire Flagellants?

Bolter/Storm Bolter Acolytes

No idea? Any ideas? (For my laspistol/hotshot acolytes I'm using Death Korp of Krieg.)

Twin-linked Dreadnought Autocannons

I've read every article on every forum and I still can't find any cheap (and in stock) option. I find it hilarious that there's a guy on ebay selling left-arm TL autocannons for a huge price markup (via auction so he's not doing wrong) whilst the same weapons (Mark V left-arm autocannons) are selling on the Forgeworld site for much much less). Any ideas? I'm seriously tempted to build them from lego and glue and paint them, but I think I'll be thrown out of my gaming group lol.

Ciao, and thanks in advance, Sethorly xxx

Some Ideas for some henchmen:

Death Cult Assassins: Use Dark Eldar Wyches. Cut down the ears and give them a lot of close combat weapons.

Crusaders: Mix Space Marines or Space Marine Scout with WF Empire State Troops, Greatswords or Bretonnian Men-at-Arms.
Looks very gothic!

Psykers: Use Empire Battle Wizards. They would look nice as Psykers.

GW used to make them, but in anticipation of people actually wanting them, they cancelled the figures.

Try hunting some used in the Swap shop.

- Mortis left-arm autocannon from FW
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space-Marine-Dreadnoughts/Mk-V-MORTIS-DREADNOUGHT-AUTOCANNON.html

- Empire Greatswords as the base for your Crusaders, with shields from any Empire/Brettonian box - the Men-at-Arms shields are the biggest.

If you give the wyches Imperial heads, for example FW Elysian respirator helmets it immediately changes the aesthetic. You would also need to lessen some of the pointiness. The knives in particular would need to be replaced.

I'm using Wood elf Glade Guard for my DCA's and Bretonian MEn at Arms for my crusaders, although i am going with an Assassins creed theme.

I love you. <3

Yeh that is the one I've seen being sold at auction on ebay for around £30. No wonder though, the FW website is rubbish for finding things you need.

Lots of great suggestions here thank you. The Empire wizards would be great for psykers, but I would like 24 of them so is there anything cheaper?

Somewhere in the dark...

The aegis defence line with the autocannons - check out:

http://www.darksphere.co.uk/index.php

They sell them cheaper than GW and if you are going to buy more than 1 box (as I did to kit out 3 dreadnoughts) the savings really add up over GW prices.

Also, check out the other range of models they do for henchmen. For DCA, I find that some of the freebooter miniatures look good but I don't know whether they are exactly the right size - maybe someone else on Dakka can say?

Another model line to try out is Infinity:

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/

They have some awesome stuff for all types of henchmen. Some of the Yu Jing look great for DCA but you may need to stick an extra knife or sword on their belt to get the WYSIWYG two weapons that they wield - same with the Freebooter models but they look really good so I think that the effort may be worth it.

I need a Techmarine. Perhaps we could buy the kit together, me getting the marine and you the servitors.

as servitor weapons go: buy the Leman russ sponson weapon bits. I think it is the cheapest way to go... of course you will gave to do som of your own legwork in rebuilding the back end of the weapon...

My sanctioned psykers from my Penal Legion guard army - Ghouls converted with Flagellant heads (bought from a bits site) and fine jewellery chain (bought from eBay)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And some servitors from my White Scars. The mechanical bits are from all sorts of sets, but the body base and caged head are the good old empire flagellants.

Saintspirit I need a techmarine too sorry

Thanks poda_t I hadn't discovered those sprues yet.

Great models ArbitorIan.

In fact they set me off thinking.....

How about if I use Mantic's ghouls as my psykers? They are very very cheap and could easily be converted by removing any weapons and giving them Inquisitor "tattoos" on their scalps + any fitting bitz I have off other sprues:
http://www.mywargame.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/lineup.jpg
They are definitely the right size I already own some for my VC WHFB army.
Think they'd be okey?

How about mixing up marine scouts with imperial guard or warhammer figures.

I think they'd be fine - I have some of the Mantic ghouls and they're a bit more 'human' looking than the GW ones. You might need to do something to enhance their 'slave' status. The chain thing works really well, and is very cheap (a metre of jewellery chain is about £3 on eBay), or maybe use a scalpel to bore out their eye sockets?

Yes I love your penal legion chain ghoul psykers I'll be giving it a go ArbitorIan. Any hints specific to the chain (what size to get, do I wrap it round their necks etc)?

It's a while since I bought it, but I think i was using something like this 2mm stuff. I guess if you can find 1mm chain that might be even better?

I used the flagellant caged and collared heads, so I didn't have to wrap it around their necks - I just attached it to the collar. I ran it down the spines of a lot of mine, because the GW ghouls had spikes and hair on their backs that I had cut off, and the chain hid the cuts nicely.

Should be quite easy to greenstuff collars and wrist shackles onto the Mantic ghouls, and then run the chain from those points to the ground.

I agree.
Maybe Mandrakes could be used as DC Assassins too?
