any way, hope to see more of your work.
the hobby is pricy if you have someone do it for you. thats the key.
the skullcraft stuff is nice but WILDLY out of control on price.
you can buy a tub of wood glue, some sand and you have paint to make any color texture you want. if you go to a nursery near you or a rock quarry, you can get sand in various grades of density and grandulation. from extremely fine poweder to small rocks. and you can get about 10 lbs of it for less than $5. (depending on the type obviously
YMMV)
head to any home depot or lowes and check the aisle for returned latex flat paints, or test pots that were returned. I picked up 1/2 quart for $.75. its great for terrain.
as for flocking and basing, I tend to stick with the model train scenics from Woodland Scenics. I can get 32 oz of the SAME tree and flocking textures as skull craft for around the same price.
I can cover an entire board 6' X 4' in grass and flocking from Woodland Scenics for about $20. paying that much for a 1oz pot is absolutely absurd. charging that much is doubly so.
make no mistake, I am not bashing the product, its great, but you can make it for less. once someone shows you how, its VERY simple to make.
for instance, that textured black pot they sell, take some flat black base paint from home depot that sells for $15 a gallon, buy a bag of childrens sandbox sand (mixed grain variety) and mix to about a 1:1 ratio. you will end up with a flat black textured basing compound.
want to make it sticky? take that same mixture, but add in 1 part woodglue and maybe a smidge more black for color. now its glue.
don't be limited by dollar signs, ANYTHING can be used to make things in this great hobby, thats why its such a great hobby!
happy hunting!
