As the question states should I buy it, its 25$ on steam and I am thinking of buying it, but if it bites I would rather not blow the money :/
(As a note I did not like DoW Dark Crusade)

well, its nothing like DoW1 that's for sure. there's no more base building and throwing around large units. its more tactical, small units (unless you're IG), similar to what company of heroes was like.
personally, i liked it. the single player is pretty good, if abit repetitive since all the factions have the exact same missions, just a different story arc for each one.
Multiplayer i barely use since i hate playing against people (generally because i dislike the "WAAC" attitude of almost everyone on there).
Last Stand is amazing. a hero from each race with their own unique play styles. the map selection is limited (2 maps with 20 stages each) but you can get so much enjoyment out of it its almost worth the price alone. but then that's what The Last Standalone is for.
so that's my opinion on it, i would suggest looking up some game play on YouTube and downloading the demo (one of the other DoW2 games has a demo so you can see the game for yourself).

It doesn't move back to base building, it does however move back to building additional units to complement your hero units.
The campaign maps are laid out so you capture a relay or outpost which allows you to build units. you capture stuff rather than build it.
Although most races have stuff you can build like turrets but not unit producing structures.

The campaing is possible to play through using only the hero units though. Done it a couple of times.

No dont get it, The SP is dull and way to easy. having the exact same missons for all races really kills it. And MP is just.... rather bad

Retribution is so much better...
It's linear campaign ( with some side missions.. ), good acting, good story, awesome characters...
And you will surely love Last Stand....

The campaign is not long at all. Its a fun game though, you would have to get a mod to make the battles bigger. Like 999 population for everyone. Its madness

You have no idea man, playing LAN against a mate with Imp guard, but only like 400 men, I only have Hormagaunts, 999 of them. Do they have enough bullets? Yes, they did. Ended quite quickly actually.

I gotta start doing something like that too. I don't play it much online though... or anything else for that matter. Too much players with a bad attitude.

Ya, I got burned out of MP for awhile from SC2, it generally is a race for who can rush first, which is something I personally don't like.
