I'm looking for a good beginner TYRANID list for my step son's friend. I think we need to keep cost (money) low so I was thinking a 500 - 1000 point list. What I was hoping is a two or three color scheme with the base coat being sprayed. Then we'd dip because I want to get him up and going fast. It's kind of my modus operandi. For my step son, I started him with a 1750 pt Necrons. It was a small force in numbers with a lit monolith. We did the whole paint job in 2 days plus me doing the C'Tan and 'lith a few days later. Now, he's hooked and starting an Eldar army by himself. That's the plan for his buddy. Get him an army. Get it painted for table top play. Get him hooked. The first taste is free. (bwaaa haaaa haaa)

If you don't feel too guilty I'd love to hear your ideas!

I'd recommend the tyranid battle force as you get

3 warriors
8 Genestealers,
16 Hormagaunts
16 Termagants
3 Ripper Swarms

just need to pick up a HQ choice and you've got a legal army and with upgrade such as toxin sack or adrenal glands you can easily get a 500 - 1000 pt list.

just look through the codex. with the battleforce and a hive tyrant you can get any where between 500 - 700 ish with upgrades to each squad
