Ok so I'm going to start a Thousand Sons/Chaos army and well, I've kinda shunned Chaos over the years so I dont really know much about it. I've read the Codex, well skimmed through most of it, as well as the deamons one, and it still kinda confuses me. I'd like to stay with the Thousand Sons theme but I dont really know what other pieces would be good to obtain, I figure a deamon prince and the other Tzeentch deamons but other than that im stumped, any ideas or suggestions would be most helpful, thanks kindly. Peace

Welcome to 40k, and Dakka as well! Please don't use that bright blue text though - I had to highlight your post just to read it, and it's very hard to see against the grey background here.
For a Thousand Sons army, use squads of Thousand Sons as your troops choices and put them in rhinos. They're very short ranged, so having them mobile will help a lot. To keep things thematic, give everything you can the Mark of Tzeentch where you can - in other words, any Terminators, Marines, and so on you want to use should have them. For HQ, I would run a sorceror and/or a daemon prince with mark of Tzeentch. You could use summoned lesser daemons, but they're very generic and can't be marked. Definitely still usable though. You can get away with just about any vehicles you want as well, although for some reason I don't picture Tzeentch using Defilers.

Agreed! Lesser Daemons are awesome supporting unit for T-sons, don't be afraid to through in a greater daemon. MC for a 100 points?!? YES PLEASE! Unless you use nothing but BoT, you NEED anti-tank units to support you troops. Otherwise you'll get crushed by army list like Kan walls. I've never had any good luck with Ahriman, I painted him all nice but isn't fun to use on table-top... Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh btw the blue text is burning my eyes

Thousand Sons are going to struggle a bit. You'll have some nice firepower, but will lack mobility. I STRONGLY encourage rhinos for everything you can. They won't last too long, so try and get your squads as close to objectives as possible while their rhinos are alive.
Perhaps fill out the rest of your list with big scary things to force your opponents high strength shots to go to them first few turns.
My biggest piece of advice is to remind yourself that this is a fun army. It won't stand much of a chance against "competitive" armies, but that's not everything (unless you're a WAAC guy).
Also, I don't mind the blue text. But, that's because I use the worksafe theme. Dakka's default background with many of us using the worksafe theme means any colors other than default or reds will only be readable by a subset of the users.

Yeah from what I heard Thousand Sons are a bit of a weaker army but i like the play style... and even if in a tournament I usually don't mind loosing, plus I have other armies to to use for more competitive play. I like the rhino idea... maybe a razorback, I like them, cause yeah I have noticed how slow the Sons are, maybe raptors of some sort, or can't chosen get wings? What would be good for anti-tank things, a devistator squad, do they get marks, any good in general? Oh and what ya'lls opinion on chaos bikes, could speed things up a bit, and again any more tips or ideas are awesome, thanks for the help so far, peace.
P.S. I was just being lame and following the army colors for the text, I can see how it could be hard for some people to see my bad, live and learn right?

I've used chaos bikes a few times in lists. They work alright for a quick anti - tank unit but my opponents always see them and imediatly start poring shots into them so if you want to use them be careful with them cause they will get shot up. As far as raptos go they are pretty much the same as bikers although better in cc if i recall correctly. But ya the main thing with Thousand suns is to try and have everything as mobile as possible to coounter act the slow and purposeful thing.

Defilers are unaligned forces so they can be found in any force that purchases their services.
Thousand Sons would definitly have the clout to get some Defilers.
they can form the bulk of your anti-tank and are still decent in CC.
or you could get Obliterators.

Chaos Marines can't get razorbacks unfortunately, but you can get rhinos til the cows come home. For anti tank, I suggest Predators with autocannons and lascannon sponsons, or Obliterators. Havoc squads are alright, but not as good as the above for taking out tanks. Chosen can not get wings, but Raptors have jump packs so you're good if you want dudes with jump packs. Chosen can outflank, however, and bring in a bunch of melta guns from the side to blow up enemy armor.

Chaos dread = can be a little unpredicatable due to it's crazy rolls, which makes it unreiable for anything but sticking it in front of your entire army and marching towards your opponent. which can be amusing and disruptive.
Chaos termies = can useful depending on how you equip them and if you use any marks on them
chaos spawn = usually die before doing anything useful, points prolly better spent else where
vindicator or predator = go pred. preds can always be useful iether more tank busting power or anti - infintary your choice for whatever your army is lacking
my opinions anyways.

Dread: its fun. don't take it if you are playing to win, but they are always a blast. Fire Frenzy is good IF it can only see the enemy.
Terminators: good as either suicide Combi-weapon platforms. they are cheaper then loyalist terminators(but only come with power weapons standard) and can take Marks(all marks are good)
Spawn: utter the only use for them is for when you have Gift of Chaos in your list. a free spawn is a good spawn, but only because its free and kills an enemy model to get it.
Vindicator/Predator: both are ok, the Vindicator is better. give it Posession. the drop in BS is offset by the large blast and it will ignore stunned and shaken.
