Well Storm of Magic does really seem to be designed for Dark Elf armies (monsters and magic? That's just a normal game ) so I was wondering whether some of the DE special characters might become more useful or closer to being worth their points

I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on how useful Malekith would be in these games.

As a close combat warrior with a good armour save (especially in chariot or on Cold One) and a great 2+ ward save against normal attacks and immunity to multiple wound hits he is built to survive combat with monsters or even a cannon hit, whilst also having access to a chariot, black dragon or cold one mount to make him extremely manoeuvrable and also add more punch and staying power. Against other characters his sword can cause serious damage with it's item breaking or magic level draining abilities and his hatred, high(ish) strength and initiative mean he is likely to cause good damage.

Against magic he has his magic resistance, a bonus dispel die and any spells cast against him which are dispelled inflict S6 hits for every die used to cast it against the caster, which is a pretty good deterrent against low toughness wizards. His offensive magic is limited to Dark Magic but as this is an easily cast lore with lower dice rolls required than BRB lores this isn't any bad thing and if all else fails you can just throw every die in your pool at that one cataclysm spell to get Irresistible Force knowing that the big miscasts (such Dimensional Cascade) cannot kill him outright (if the rule of specific>general applies here which means that he would lose a wound from being sucked into the realm of chaos but couldn't be killed outright)

Stick him on a fulcrum and you've got an almost immovable tank ( Armour+mount, 2+ ward against normal, 4+ against magical) blasting the enemy with magic and cutting down anything that tries to knock him off, which frees up other units to tackle the enemy as he doesn't need support like other mages.

Wondering what other peoples thoughts are.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.
