hey y'all! i am both new to dakka and pretty new to 40k. my step dad got me hooked by buying me a 1750 point necron army ( 2 warrior troops, 3 destroyers, lord w/ rez orb, some scarab swarms, a nightbringer, and a monolith). awesome way to get started . but just last week i am creating my own Eldar army (trying to get as much of the painting done by myself this time). doing a pretty awesome winter camo scheme (ill post the pics asap). if anyone has some good tactics and certain model choices for an eldar list (1000-1500 max) i would much appreciate it.

Not to be a downer, but now is probably not the best of times to buy an entire necron army, since they're getting an update in August, so you may have wasted a bunch of money. Should you find a way to convert some of that stuff for the update, however, then good for you!

well i got them in january but i just joined this site. but yeah we were a little mad once we heard about all the changes. luckily i have a pretty generic list. nothing to special

Welcome to dakka. I also recently started playing Eldar. I play a mechanized force with a bunch of wave serpents and fire prisms. It's pretty good, but some of the stuff in the codex seems a little overcosted when compared with some of the newer codexes.

From what I've read, most people play Eldar either in a all foot list, a mech list or with a lot of jetbikes. An Eldar Seer Council on bikes is a really solid anvil to build an army around. There are essentially three ways to play eldar, mech, foot slogging and jetbike heavy.

Welcome to dakka! The best advice I can probably give you is, stay away from phoenix lords and swooping hawks when you start out. They can be useful, but be sure to do your research before investing in any.

Sweet thanks for all the replys, you guys are fast. alot of the links helped out to. but i was definitely thinking mech for the Eldar. Everyone says that is the easiest way to go. trying to make a 1500 with fire dragons if anyone has a good list

Eldar are a very interesting race to play imo. Keep in mind, that every eldar unit is good at doing one thing, and one thing only.

I for myself play a jetbike heavy army. I like the speed a lot. Jetbike Eldar is a very unforgiving army though.

Welcome to Dakka i am pretty new my self but i can give some good tips on the necrons! Monoliths they are expensive but worth it!! warriors you need a lot of them due to the phase out rule in Annihilation they will be of most use! Pariahs the bane of existence use them against the heavy troops!! resurrection orbs you really can never get enough of these they will be what your army depends on. destroyers and Heavy destroyers they are pretty use full and have lots of value in an army! flayed ones more you can always use more! use them against infantry.
just because you play Necrons people will hate you they are a pretty good opponent and not that easy to defeat unless you know how to break them up!
