Obviously in apoc you can take pretty much whatever you want....
So, as Obliterators are in terminator armour, woudl they be able to deploy in Drop Pods as Terminators can?
Just a thought.

Apoc doesn't let you just take whatever you want. It simply lets you ignore FOC restrictions.
Obliterators have no transport option, and there is no way to select a Drop Pod from any of the regular codexes other than as a dedicated transport.
I believe the Imperial Armour has different rules for Drop Pods, but don't have the IA Apocalypse book, so have no idea what those rules are currently... it's possible you might be able to get them a pod that way.

The IA Pods don't let you take them for CSM armies.

Apoc lets you take pretty much anything i thought. So if i want to take a Shadowsword in my IW army i can etc etc.
If an Ork player wants to take a load of looted eldar jetbikes then he can.

That is true.
You can take a looted Baneblade in your Ork army or Eldar Jetbikes along ´side your Imperial Guard.
What you can't do, is mix and match options.
You cannot give Obliterators Drop Pods anymore than you can give Dark Lances to Space Marine Land Speeders.

Fair enough.
So i could field "Iron Warrior" terminators in a drop pod....as long as they were proxied for SM Terminators (who are able to use pods legally)

Yes.
In my mind that would be both awesome and totally in line with the mindset set forth by Apocalypse.

Vanilla Space Marine Terminators do not have access to Drop Pods. Space Wolves and Black Templars ( IIRC) do, though.

You gotta think more outside the box.
You know how in the fluff the Iron Warriors always keep a collection of rabble around to do all the fighting and dying? You can't really represent that in regular 40k, but in Apoc you definitely can. You could just take IG conscripts, but they're kind of boring and just a little too obvious. We've got the full range of 40k books to work with here.
Take Termagants. They've got a statline fit for a cultist - 3's where it counts, rags for armor, and a fitting leadership of 6. The Fleshborer is works for an autogun/lasgun, especially with some heretical modifications from Iron Warrior smiths. The special rules are where this shines, however.
"Instinctive Behavior - Lurk" - when outside of Synapse, take a LD check. If failed the Termagants will either shoot at the nearest thing, or try to fortify some area terrain. This sounds like the way a cowardly cultist would act! You won't have any Synapse in your army, obviously, so the large rabble will act more as a distraction and a shield than a competent part of your army. I think it works pretty well.
To expand on it, maybe include some Biomechanical Oppressors (aka Tyranid Warriors) to help keep your mob under control? Your forces could be lead by your Ascended Warsmith, who guides your siege with the expertise only a veteran of a thousand smashed citadels could have (Hive Tyrant/Swarmlord), and he could be protected by his personal bodyguard, who are now more machine than man (Tyrant Guard).
It's Apoc. Let your imagination take control. Don't just settle for Drop Pods!

In apoc games Chaos do get drop pods, they are called Dreadclaws. However the entry under Dreadclaws do not allow obliterators to ride in them.

Being an IC he can go into reserve joined to a unit that has a drop pod and arrive with them.
edit: nothing forbids terminators from traveling in a drop pod, just very few squads can buy one.

Just going to throw this out there:
Apoc is a game of "F" the general rules; even says so directly on one of the early pages of the Apoc book(Last 2 points in "Special rules and restrictions" on page 37; about writing up your own data sheets and setting your House rules).
Because you can have your own house rules(agreed upon w/your opponents) or write your own datasheets(again with consent); you may freely have Obllits arriving in drop pods so long as all parties agree.
In order to better Garner consent you could always propose to add an extra 15 points/unit to put them in the pods; or write them up as a Data sheet of 50 points + models, making 3 units minimum, and forcing a designation of 1 pod being a "command pod" with the whole formation entering in the same strategic reserves, and all within 24" of the command pod(before scatter) Look to some of the SM formations on GWs website(Shrike;'s talons), or the one in Apoc reload(Skyhammer orbital Strike force; just consider Obits as Devs from the Elements)

In apocalypse often rules go out the window...
But fluffwise chaos really don't use pods that much.

You can justify anything fluff-wise: just claim you are playing in the "Goto-verse" and enjoy your tank-surfing, back-flipping Multilaser-armed terminators and your Slaanesh-worshiping Craftworld Eldar.
