Okay I was reading on Lexicanum earlier about the primarchs. I came up on something that made facepalm about some of GW writing. Was Russ really raised by wolves because that is completely ridiculous and unoriginal? It actually said that he didn't even realize he was more Human than wolf until he was dragged away from his pack . I feel like this could have been taken so many better ways. Most of the other Primarchs had cool realistic history up until I came on to this. Someone please tell me this isn't canon

It is indeed canon.

Is that really so bad?
Kurze became Batman and somehow survived as an infant in a city full of crime and corruption.
Angron killed an Eldar hit squad, whilst he was an infant.

It's just that it said he didn't even know he wasn't a wolf. If he had survived the wilds with two wolves as pets or something it would have been better. I didn't read Angron yet because he didn't interest me. Kurze I thought was believable and developed his character better. Russ's just made me think he was stupid.(Not a puppy hate thread I actually like most of the things about him)

If you were raised by dragons for the first 20 or so years of your life and you had no contact with anything else i'm pretty sure you might actually think you were a dragon despite the obvious differences.

He'd seen humans though because the wolves stole most their food from people.

Why should he equate himself with them though?
He has no identity other than being a wolf.

To him he probably saw Fenrisians the way we see Chimps today. Being something totally different although striking some similarities With him being with wolves he was probably in the buff as well so he never saw that they had similar bodies. Of course... he probably saw some bodies, but this was after they were tore limb from limb by the wolves first It's all a matter of perspective

So do feral children. They don't have much of a human identity though. Feel free to investigate that if you want to be depressed.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

As DarknessEternal mentioned, there is actual historical (real life) precedent for people being raised by animals and identifying with the animals more than humans.

I think all the OP is trying to get at here is that this kind of thing has been used in numerous plots to movies and TV series and isn't as original as some of the other primarch's backgrounds. While it is an interesting thought and has happened in the real world, it isn't completely believable. But hey, lasguns and chainswords

I will grant that, but some of the other stories for the Primarchs are similarly played out. I didn't think it was as 'done-to-death' as all that.

Well since it's happened in real life, I think I can accept it happening to a genetically forged super-being 30,000 years in the future on a planet inhabited by giant mega wolves....
