Thinking of Joining a Davinite Loge

Been reading Hulksmash's blog and he's been trying out a foot GK list. I personally don't like the idea of tanks (well, dedicated transports anyway) and was wondering whether a 'Psyrifle Wall' - like an Ork Kan Wall - is possible or is it just completely bonkers?
Now, Ven dreads would be the best bet for this but you could fit normal ones in there too. And I think you would need more than three to pull this off. I also realise that it would be expensive to do but, a wall of Psyriflemen advancing in front of PAGK on foot sounds like fun if nothing else.
With smoke launchers, fortitude, the ability of Ven dreads to force an opponent to re-roll a pen result and a Libby giving shrouding and sanctuary, it is possible to make it very difficult to take those dreads down. Get your GK into psycannon range and then let rip. If you did this with strike squads, you could use warp quake to stop opponents deep striking easily behind your lines. There are other options, too, like a second libby for more pyschic defence, Coteaz for extra anti deep striking defence or maybe take a couple of interceptor squads to forge out ahead of the main force and harass your opponent as the rest of your force advances.
In fact, thinking about it, you could take coteaz and then just loads of Death Cult Assassins behind the dreads which would somewhat offset the cost of so many dreads since DCA are so cheap.
So, it's expensive points wise and your numbers will be a hell of a lot less than an ork army (with PAGK) but do you think that this is within the realms of possibility or is a Psyrifle Wall completely bonkers?

Why would you want to advance with Dreadnoughts that are best at 48"? All you're doing is walking into melta range.

I thought shrouding only gave +1 cover. Does it give a free cover if no cover exists too?
Also, your smoke launchers will work for 1 turn so thats already 1 turn of shooting lost.
Now, if you remove the DCCW, you really shouldn't move them up. A single boyz/tactical marine/firewarrior squad can hold them up for 2-3 turns to possibly the entire length of the game. Getting psyflemen dreads assaulted is bad mmkay?
Also, as you are not a squadron, you can't give "intervening" cover to the troops behind unless you literally make a wall but that wall will be tiny then and people will just flank you for the lulz.
Interesting idea but I think the lack of squadrons and the double to triple cost of a dread vs a kan screws it over.

Yeah, shrouding gives cover even in the open. Also, you'd have access to sanctuary from the libby/Coteaz so assaulting them would be more difficult. I'm not suggesting that you'd advance the dreads into assault - once your strike squads are in range, they could start shooting and move into assault when needed. The dreads would drop back and support from range. And smoke is there if you need it. With the shrouding, fortitude and in the case of ven dreads their re-roll on pens they have a lot of survivability, smoke is extra.
I do realise it's not going to work exactly like the kan wall but you'd get cover saves from the dreads and the 48" range allows you to engage targets sooner rather than later. It's just an idea that i thought could work.

It sounds fairly cool, get 2 ven dreads with Autocannons and psyammo, 3 dreads with assault cannons and psyammo, a techmarine for repairs and bolster defences, a few deep striking squads for getting any objectives out out of reach. It won't be at all competitive, but it would be fun.
