I forgot my camera for my battle today, so unfortunately no pictures. Anyway, hope you enjoy reading along

MISSION:
1750 points, pitched battle, capture and control for 3 objectives

His list:
- Venerable dreadnought with plasma cannon and missile launcher
- Belial with lightning claws
- Terminator chaplain with combi-plasma
- Terminator squad with close combat junk
- Terminator squad with stormbolters, flamer
- Terminator squad with stormbolters, cyclone
- Land Raider Crusader x2 with multimeltas and stormbolters
- Vindicator
Belial and the chappy ride in one Crusader with the choppy squad, flamer squad rides in the other LRC, other Termies hold objectives or somesuch.

My list:
- 30 boyz, shootas, 3x big shootas, klaw, pole, nob
- 30 boyz, sluggas, klaw, pole, nob
- 12 boyz, klaw, pole, nob, in a red trukk
- 10 grots plus slaver
- 10 nobz with 4x choppa, 2x uge choppa, 1 klaw, 1 klaw and pole, 1 klaw and banner, painboy, cybork bodies all around
- Battlewagon with rolla, riggers, armor, 4x big shoota
- Warboss 'Eadkrumpa with klaw, cybork, twin linked shoota
- 15 lootas
- 14 Kommandos with 2x burna, klaw, pole, nob
Warboss 'Eadkrumpa rides in his pimpwagon with the Nobz.

DEPLOYMENT
He wins the roll off. We have three objectives, going diagonally from my left to my right, away from me. One is in the center. He puts his dreadnought on top of a building in the center where it has cover, one crusader on the left covering up the Vindicator and one on the right, loaded with Belial's boys, with the cyclone squad on an objective. I put down my sluggas to the center left and my shootas to the center right. My lootas go up in a building to the middle right, with my wagon behind the building my shootas are in. My trukk is to the far left, hiding behind a big building where it can't be seen. Grots are in reserve to capture my closest objective later, and kommandos will be outflanking.

TURN 1
He rolls up both his raiders, keeping his vindicator well covered between a building and his non-deathstar crusader. He shoots almost everything at my lootas and manages to kill 12 of 15. A few shots from crusaders kill some shoota boyz. The vindicator lobs a shell at my sluggas and kills 3. My lootas pass their leadership test and we go on to my turn.

My trukk speeds 19" up behind more cover; I thought of driving through the building to get a surprise attack on the center Land Raider, but I know I'm out of range. My sluggas advance into the building on the left my trukk is hiding behind. My shootas cautiously advance forward where they are, but have a hard time getting out of the building. My Battlewagon rolls up past them, but still behind some ruins to the front. Shooting sees my boyz running/sauntering and not getting very far. My lootas target the dreadnought, and I roll 2 hots for each of them. Of my 6 shots, 4 hit, 2 penetrate, and one gets stopped by cover. I roll a 6, he asks me to reroll it due to the venerable rule, and I roll another 6! These lootas are pro as hell.

TURN 2
The Vindicator peels off and starts heading to my right, I'm guessing to go after my nobz and their wagon. The center crusader crushes through cover, driving a full 12" to unload its Terminator cargo right between my shootas and my battlewagon. Belial's Land Raider hangs back a bit, but is still only a little over a foot from my battlewagon. The cyclone squad finishes off my lootas. Belial's crusader bounces its assault cannon of my wagon's front armor. The other crusader, however, is within 12" for its multimelta and POTMS lets it fire, and it wrecks my wagon! The nobz get out on the opposite side, as close to Belial's raider as possible. The Terminators who got out of the middle land raider shoot the shoota boyz, torching 2 with the flamer and killing one or two more with stormbolters. They charge in and I kill 2 while losing 9. 6 boyz die from No Retreat! wounds. Ouch.

I roll reserves and nothing comes in. My nobz head towards Belial's raider, while my trukk drives up behind the Vindicator and dumps out its boyz. My sluggas move towards the shootas in hope to bail them out. I declare my WAAAGH! and everybody fleets - the trukkboyz get close to the vindicator, my nobz towards the cyclone Terminator squad, my warboss towards Belial's land raider, and the sluggas towards the center land raider and the Terminators there. Everything is close enough to assault! The trukkboyz manage to immobilize the Vindicator with regular attacks, then the power klaw blows it up, killing 3 boyz. Warboss 'Eadkrumpa manages to immobilize the Land Raider with his klaw. The nobz lose two of their slugga/choppa nobz to power fist wounds, but manage to wipe out the cyclone squad. The center assault has my sluggas multi-assault the Land Raider and the Terminators. The power klaw doesn't even dent the raider, the Terminators kill 2 shoota boyz, and two of the remaining three Terminators die. The last one is still standing, punching Orks left and right. That turn went EXTERMELY well for me, taking out his main objective holding squad, his only remaining template weapons, bailing out my shootas, and immobilizing one of his raiders

TURN 3
Belial jumped out of his Land Raider, and he was understandably pissed at the Orks outside trying to trash his ride. The other Land Raider turned tail and drove away from the Orks trying to bash it. The other Crusader shot at my nobz, but Feel No Pain and wound shenanigans kept most of my nobz alive. The fleeing raider also dropped a slugga/choppa nob with its multimelta, once again thanks to POTMS. Assault commences, and Belial and his squad multi-assault my nobz and my warboss. Lighting claws with rerolls to hit and wound end up killing my nobz before they can even strike. Warboss 'Eadkrumpa tries to give the finger to the Deathwing one last time as he punches their Land Raider, but I roll all stunned and shaken results on it before he gets brought down by thunder hammers. In the center, that last Terminator finally falls to my boyz.

My trukkboyz get back in their trukk and roll towards Belial's Land Raider. I roll reserves and the kommandos come in on my right flank, right where I want them but still too far to do anything about Belial or his immobilized ride. My two mobs of boyz are down to about 20something sluggas and 10 shootas. They go after the fleeing Land Raider and catch it, but fail to scratch the paint with their powerklaws. Fortunately, both squads are still in cover. My kommandos run, with the intent to charge the rear of the Land Raider next turn.

TURN 4
Belial and his posse walk up to the center of the board, where my boyz are. The mobile Raider keeps moving, and shoots at my trukk. It blows off the big shoota, and keeps it from shooting next turn, as if I had any guns left. Belial and his Terminators charge into the center, multicharging both squads of boyz. However, since they don't have frags, I get to hit first with all of 86 attacks. I drop both thunder hammers and one of the lightning claw Terminators, and wound Belial once. He strikes back and kills 9 boyz, only for my powerklaws to take out the two lightning claw Terminators and Belial himself. The melee ends in a tie, with something like 30 boyz around just the chaplain.

With no more scoring units left, the Deathwing concede the game for an Ork victory!

I think lightning claws only re roll fail too wounds and not to hit, but I am not an expert on the rules. Nice report wish there were pictures, maybe next time.

He had a Chaplain attached to the squad, so they rerolled hits as well as wounds.

This was a nicely written battle report even without pictures. All your good descriptions really made me want to see that Battlefield though!

Nice game!

(BTW Terminators don't come with frag grenades?)

Nope! One of the things that Meganobz have in advantage to them. Now if only they could get a weapon that would strike at more than Init 1...

Termies also can't Sweeping Advance, which is cool.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Ya - my major mistake at the end was not embarking in the land raider so I could charge with initiative (LRC has frag launchers). Instead Brother hit first and I failed like 4-5 or so armor saves out of 12 :[ and lost most my squad.

That basically ended the game.

It was still a fun game though! Hopefully next time I'll remember to bring a notepad and a camera and do a more visual battle report.
