Apparently they give out change in opiates.

But that does look like a nice, reasonably big store.

They should pay for the Beijing cosplay group to come down and walk around the area.

In Tokyo, every GW staff person I've met has been Japanese. Where are the Chinese staff? What is a blue shirt? I know red shirts and black shirts--is blue significant?

AHA! This explains their move to "finecast"!! It'll take much longer for the chinese to master the knockoffs!

You mean because it will take them so long to unlearn how to cast things properly?

LOL

BTW, why is everything in English? I get certain brand names and logos wouldn't be translated, but even some of the display rack signage and POS marketing stuff is in English. If this was the first store, they could have made a bit of an effort to polish their look and market to their audience. Or is this normal for Anglo companies in China? Not trying to be daft or facetious, I truly am ignorant of doing business in China.

I think that a lot of the boxes they had seemed to have both an English and Chinese version (I saw 2 AoBR boxes with one with English and the other Chinese in the pictures). If I am not mistaken, I have also heard that a large part of their population knows English (Is this correct?).

Their target audience are rich kids with money to burn, and who probably studied abroad to get ahead of the other rich kids. In China GW is a very expensive hobby. So they aim it at the ones who had an English education and the cash to buy it.

But yes there is an English and Chinese version of the rules now.

Yet, we arent counterfeiters...

I cant wait to walk in, grab a pre-opened box off the shelf and discover that everything inside is already pre-primed for my convenience...

Unpainted Space Marines on the table.

The shame, the shame.

Intresting that they have chinese language for the titles of the box sets but the Warhammer 40K and Warhammer logos stay in English.

This is one market that could potentially save GW, due to its scale, only if they don't annoy its players like they have done for the rest of the world.

Also, Chinese character titles on the rulebooks and codexes in shot.

Well, it's China, right?

They're probably waiting for a reply from the Department of Culture to see what colors are appropriate to paint the Marines. Most likely red and gold.

GW should invent a new faction based on Hindu mythology and launch in India.

Pretty ho hum if you ask me and not the best way to launch a high street retail presence. I mean labour is dirt cheap in China and they couldn't even use that to their advantage and do a more inspiring fit out?

They also need to use more Chinese signage if they want even rich kids to get into the swing of things and have Mandarin speakers as staff.

They have mandarin speakers...The OP appears to only have taken pics of the GM and manager. New faces to a lot of folks who play over here. The regular staff are local players.

Also bear in mind the store isn't completely ready yet. Stock hasn't been cleared through customs yet and the store only opened because they were under contract at the mall that said they HAD to open that particular day.
