My understanding of the "And they Shall Know no Fear" rule.

ANTSKNF
- Units who are falling back in coherency and not within 6” of a model may regroup automatically
- Units with this rule who regroup are not considered to be moving. [Query: Does this therefore mean that they can shoot heavy weapons]
- If they are caught by a sweeping advance, they are effectively fearless. [query, does this mean that they get charged again in the next phase? ]

are these interpretations correct?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
in addition, can more than one HQ join a unit?

Correct
Yes they can, or can move up to 9" (3" regroup, plus normal move)
correct, and they can't be charged again, because they don't leave combat, if they are caught, they are subject to the "No Retreat" rule on pg. 44

Yes, as long as they are ICs, multiple HQs can join a unit

Yes more than one Independent Characters can join a unit, or indeed join each other.

Not every HQ is an independent character and there are many independent characters that are not HQ.

Yeah, but you might want to know about your enemies HQs. Especially Crowe commonly "forgets" that he isn't an independet character, but there are many other non-independent characters across codices.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Mephiston has a tendency to "forget" stuff like that as well, although it's getting rarer now that the Codex has been out for a while.

With the stupid named characters, I ask to be allowed to read the entry from the codex [both army list and special rules] or I'll say that they count as a skin-bare captain. [it is not unfair to be allowed to understand the abilities of the character you will be getting smashed by. ]

Others answered the first 2, I I will get to the 3rd:

no, this is not correct If they attempt to flee and are caught(Enemies d6 roll + I value is equal to or greater than the SM players d6+ I Value), then the SM player simply takes a number of Armor saves(or invulnerable if it is better than their armor saves, which is rare) and do not move at all. Since they remain in base to base and locked in combat they cannot be assaulted by that unit again, but will still be in close combat with them. The rules for this is on page 44 under "No Retreat!"just consider all references to "Fearless units" as "Units with ATSKNF".

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

I would strongly suggest that you do not game with anyone that refuse to allow you to read the rules for any unit.

QFT, my friend tried that once and i chewed him out.

on topic(sort of): i love ATSKNF, going between a Tau/Guard/Ultramarine army, the SM's really make you appreciate the rule, if i had a dollar for every unit that I have lost to sweeping advance...id have more than 15 and less than 100!

At least with guard you have 2 good options to prevent/mitigate squad breakage:

1) Commissars: re-rollable Ld9 + stubborn is hard to shift.

and

2) CCS order "Get back in the fight!": A well protected back-line CCS should prevent any units from actually leaving the board.

unfortunately your Tau got nothing.

I just re looked at the rule and had a major moment. I thought that it said his stubborn and leadership only applied to his SQUAD so i never used him, but it is his UNIT, so i might start taking my commissar's when i run platoons...
