Hi I am looking for some advice on a new grey knight list I am trying to build with which I am trying to balance cool models with payability (easy enough right:?), really I can't decided If I want a stormraven or a Redeemer in the list, I love the forgeworld redeemer model and just want to paint it however the storm raven does seem tactically more useful, so I come to you guys for a few thoughts on the list below, a side not is a few choice wargear wise are simply because i like the model (such as the dreadnought).

HQ

Grey Knight Grand Master
- Master Crafted Nemesis Force Halberd
- Rad Grenades
- Psychotroke grenades
Total 215pts

Elite

Venerable Dreadnought
- Assault Cannon

Total 205pts

(5) Paladins
- 2 Psycannon’s
- 3 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
Total 315pts

Troops

(10 ) Grey Knight Strike Squad

- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Psybolt ammunition
- Rhino

(5) Grey Knight Terminators
- 1 psycannon

- 4 Nemesis Force Halberds
Total 225pts

Fast Attack

Stormraven
- Twin-linked multimelta
- Twin linked Plasma Cannon
Total 205pts

The first list leaves me with 45pts to spend, this is basically because originally I had the brotherhood banner on the Paladins and assault cannon with pysammo on the stormraven (so more psycannons), problem I have found is really dealing with marine players out of combat as I am relying to much on rending shoots to take them out, I think the plasma cannon would certainly give me a tool to deal with these, of course I could go with a lascannon for that extra anti-tank weapon. I have been thinking about a number of changes, making the grandmaster a captain, making the Paladins into normal termies and just having one big unit and then giving them Psycannons and perhaps even giving the Grandmaster/Captain and incinerator so the unit he is with in the Raven has some anti-horde weapons (maybe even a psycannon to off shoot the loss from the unit).

I think the autocann/flamer dread is an odd choice, he costs 10 extra points (over psyfleman) and has conflicting weapon ranges.

Also I think landraiders are a better investment than stormravens. The added mobility of a Stormraven won't save it from it's AV 12. Although personally I don't like to have to that many points to pop anywhere.

Also, if you're going to spend 215 points on a grand master, might as well spend the extra 60 to upgrade to Draigo. He has better Str/toughness, storm shield, psyker level 2, eternal warrior etc. Although since you're so low on models and not going all terminator I'd go for a Xenos Inquisitor with rads for as little as 40 points.

Hi Graekoch, as to why I have chosen the psycannon + heavy flamer model it really comes down to what I said in the first sentence

I was actually going to use a stormbolter but sadly because I use the force weapon arm it came with a incinerator, main thing with dread is he was going to ride in the back of the raven and jump out with the paladins and GM.

Sure Draigo is great (my GM is a converted Draigo model) however I tend not to use special characters and Draigo wouldn't have both sets of grenades (which have been handy on the Paladins).

*edit* gah forgot to pay for psyammo, just edited lists to make them legal, you would have thought of one of the 42 people who looked at this might have said something!
