Hey, I grabbed the new GK codex when I dropped a while back because I loved GK's back when. I still have a decent collection of mini's. Well I have not had a chance at a game as most of my old gaming group has since moved on but I got a chance to wheel them out last weekend. A buddy of mine has convinced some of his friends to start up and I finally got a chance for a visit and a game. My list was as follows
2k Grey Knights (semi-competitive)
GM- 220
MC halberd rad, pychotroke grenades
Librarian- 200
2x Servo Skulls, Teleport homer, Shrouding, Might, Sanctuary, Warp Rift, Summoning
5 Paladins
2 MC psycannon, 2 MC Halberd, 2 halberd, 1 sword
10 GKSS- 220
2 psycannon
5 GKT- 200
10 interceptors- 310
1 hammer 2 psycannon, psybolt ammo
1 Dreadknight- 260
Great Sword, Incenerator, Teleporter
1 Dreadknight- 260
Great Sword, Incenerator, Teleporter
I think that comes out right, I am working from memory. Might be a little off. Anyhow, I say semi-competitive since most of the people in this group are not fielding top of the line armies. There is a noticable lack of mech here. I also only had my old models to work with and my buddy was kind enough to let me proxy out the dreadknights, so I wanted to stick to a list close to what I could actually show with the models I had. That said, I had an idea for an interesting list that could work out a few tactics I think are cool. First this list has the capacity to go all reserve with okay results. The second tactic I wanted to try was a rapid redeploy using shunts and summoning. The idea is to land outside the enemy deployment zone and focus a pile of shots on it with GK's high ROF. Then shunt/summon around to another point and repeat this process. The goal here being able to focus almost all of my army on one point to smash it then redeploy to hit the next part as the enemy reacts. I think this takes advantage of the GK's midfield shooting and secondary CC roles to mop up. I know double HQ hurts me here a bit, but I just could not let the librarian tool kit go. I have a low model count and Shrouding seems a godsend there, and it gives me summoning when I know isn't popular but plays to the army's style. ( Side note: we are letting teleport homers work for summoning.) I want to retool my troop choices a bit. I noticed as we were about to get underway I had totally outfitted my paladin squad but only paid for 4 so I had a quick scramble to make up points.
Things I am on the fence about:
Dreadknights- I am just not sure if they can pull their weight, but they serve as a good guy to fill lots of roles, from modest tank hunters to anti infantry.
Librarian- Do I keep him or not? Can I still play the style of game I want with out him?
I would welcome any comments or critiques.
