Hi all,
Have decided to collect High Elves but although I bought the Island of Blood I haven't played much 8th edition and when I did I used my Empire Army. I have never played High elves but am a pretty experienced Dark Elf general in 7th and 6th ed if that helps. My overriding questions are are silver helms any good now they are not a core choice, I have 8 of them and wanted to know whether to expand the numbers or leave them unpainted and unassembled. Secondly I love the Alith Anar book and have the model and 10 shadow warriors, these are painted as they were a painting project but would like to include them. Although I am not bothered about using Alith Anar in every game it would be nice to use him now and again. Any help on these particular subjects and HE in general would be much appreciated.

No on the silver helms.
Shadow Warriors. I have used, to varying degrees of effectiveness. I would likely use them again to cause some disruption.

No one likes Silver Helms as Dragon Princes are 1000x better for only 7 more points

second ralin graves, honestly dont even waste the time on your silver helms they are jsut plain sad, i persoanlly cannot justify shadow warriors i would put the points into dragon princes, white lions, sword masters or phoenix gaurd, all of those choices will have about a million times more game impact than shadow warriors IMHO and experience

As stated, both are suboptimal options. Silver Helms would be fine if they had stayed a core choice. Comparing Shadow Warriors to Dark Elf Shades and they are terrible. Lower BS and only single shot.
Dragon Princes are worlds better for the points, and any of the elite infantry are more useful than shadow warriors.

Shadow Warriors are perfectly capable of pulling their own weight, they just require more effort than most players feel like putting into it. Silver Helms can work as a "bus" for characters, safeguarding a Prince or Noble until he can hit the desired enemy unit.
If you're a fledgling High Elf player like me, check out Ulthuan.net for hints and tips about pretty much anything High Elf-related. It's a great community too!
(Not sure if this falls under the "no advertisement" clause in the user terms, if it does I apologize)
