Sorry to sound lazy, but does anyone know if the new GK codex gave names of the brotherhoods. Currently sitting here at work so I don't have my codex on me. Got to thinking about some fluff for my army since it is a slow day today.

Thanks!

No names are given, nor are potential differences between them, their history, iconography, nothing. That fool missed an excellent chance there.

Probably work

I think it's important that no brotherhood has any identity beyond the next. There's no beautiful and unique snowflakes in the Grey Knights (we're not going to talk about Purifiers here). Hell, the only have names names because they are inverted versions of discovered Daemonic truenames in hopes it will make each one more powerful against a particular daemon. They are utility, given form, function, and direction. We don't need a "1st Brotherhood Best of the best of the best of the best" thing going on.

Assume all my mathhammer comes from here: https://github.com/daed/mathhammer

The direction I was wanting to go with naming a Brotherhood was not like "1st Brotherhood Best of the best of the best of the best" or "Purer than the purest" (looking at you purifiers) but rather something generic and very "Grey Knighty" or possibly historical but if there is no background there about the brotherhoods having identity then I guess it is best to leave it alone.

It doesn't necessarily have to be that the first brotherhood would have to act like a veteran company. However I do agree with the idea that it would have been good to get more detail about the brotherhoods - give them each some unique characteristics and background. It would definitely have been more preferable than the info we got about their fortress on Titan (ugh). However, the codex does provide the names of several Brother-Captains so we can at least speculate who leads them.
