In this game my friend who doesn't play very often wanted a game and we decided to add the special restriction of no monstrous creatures or vehicles. As a result I really had no idea what to pick since Tyranids without MCs pretty much has nothing going for it. There's no catalyst to help get across the table and no big bugs to soak up fire. In a rush to make a list I took one of a bunch of different units and called it good. The outcome is in the video. Unfortunately I do not have army lists for this game. It was rather impromptu so we forgot to save them.

Nothing going for it? Hardly!! Hive Guard, Venomthropes, Genestealers out the wazoo, etc are more than enough to make an opponent pee their pants. Especially since you'll be able to afford more of them with less big guys, and spend less on anti-tank.

Sure the lack of Tyrants and Tervigons blows, but you can easily make a good Nid list with 0 MC.

So I would not agree tyranids without MCs suck. My brother doesn't have any, and he trounces me all the time. You just have to rethink your strategy a little.

The table set up...well it sucked. There was no LOS blocking terrain. If there had been, the nids would have gotten much closer.

As to your narration...this is why I don't watch video reports.

I agree on these points. A weak table set up, totally favoring the tau, and ... the narration. Yeah. 20 seconds of that and I shut off the sound and watched little more.

As others have said easy Tau victory need different terrain.
