Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

Hey guys

Trying to find advice for Imperial guard stormtroopers (aside from not getting them[b])

I run a 5 man squad most games with meltas, however a friend suggested to me to drop said melta's and run the stormtroopers as MEQ?

Now just out of curiosity and aside from the small squad size, how effective is a stormtrooper squad as MEQ?

Note: I know they are overpriced and not worth the points however that will not stop me from fielding such an awesome set of figures.

Cheers if anyone has anything in input. javascript:emoticon('');

Stormtroopers are not MEQ because that means Marines Equivilant which they really aren't...
If you try to run them like a tactical squad they will perform badly.
My advice is to use them as a suicide unit. Deepstrike in slag a tank with the meltaguns and leave to die. If they happen to live longer then slag another tank if you can.

Thats what I use them for

I just thought it was odd my friend suggested this and wondering if it had any credibility or if he was just messing with me.

He may think it will work but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't.
They are too expensive and too easy to kill to be used like that IMO.

Either he is messing with you or has no clue what he is talking about. Honestly the guard has nothing that is MEQ.

Probably work

Deepstriking melta stormtroopers is the most obvious and effective way to bring them. I've recently taken to bringing a squad of plasma stormtroopers as well, for some extra anti-everything goodness. The really great thing about stormtroopers is that you can use them in so many ways. You reroll scatter, so by my understanding, you can reroll bailing out of the back of a valkyrie. You can give them a chimera and outflank them with infiltrate, you can deep strike them from the sky. You're not paying the points for the unit or for even the hot-shot lasguns. You're paying for the built in delivery mechanism.

Storm Troopers die in handfuls. They likely should have a specialized role, do that, then run for the hills if they cannot safely support without getting gunned down for Killpoints. When I ran mine, there was 1 unit with meltas, 1 unit with plasmas. Their roles were obvious: kill tanks, kill MEQ before they get to my lines. Then try to hunker in terrain and hold an objective if possible.

I found them fluff. Because Storm Troopers are supposed to fill an elite role, but their still human, so they are squishy. In the fluff they die in handfuls, on the table, they kill something, and die in handfuls. Deep striking helps.

With their price, you need to kill a tank to get ahead IE a Leman Russ, Landraider, etc. OR you need to kills a nice marine squad with Rapid fire plasma. Focus on their role, anything else they do is gravy.

I believe something has got lost in translation here, and the OP means MECH and not MEQ. (Homophones FTW!)

Somewhere Ironic

A squad of 5-6 Storm Troopers, cruising around in a Chimera. Sounds kinda neat actually, especially if you give them the infiltrate specialty.
