Hey guys, modelling a killteam atm, and I really want to give one of the orks sunglasses. My greenstuff skills are ok, but not good enough to scratch build something that small and detailed. Help?

I have to say that sounds freaking badass.

Greenstuff is probably the way to go here. Make a log across the eyes and use a really small X-acto knife to slice it up.

Good luck and be sure to post pics eventually!

Or get some of the orks from GorkaMorka. They have sunglasses, among other things.

One of the Warbikers has goggles that look rather like sunglasses. Just cut away the strap around the back of the head.

Actually, this looks like a project you could do with plasticard... be very careful when cutting, but its fairly simple to get a pair of simplified aviators... Just need a couple small straight pieces, and two half-ovals. cut out the shape of the ovals roughly and then grab a file to smooth it down to the right shape.

Orks... with sunglasses????

What you could do is use lead foil and cut it to shape with a pair of scissors. That's how I did my Ork Eyepatches, and the bases for my Ork Goggles.

I'd go with plasticard lenses and a partial wire frame. Scribe lines to separate the lenses and frame, then attach two lengths of wire to go back over the ears.

I've done this. I'm not saying greenstuff isn't the answer, just that I got really awesome results with just a tiny scrap of thin plasticard, an Exacto knife and two tiny drops of glue.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The old early 90's orks had heads with sunglasses (and a field cap!). They don't look quite right on the new bodies though.

The easiest way to do this is to find something that is already cylindrical, such as an axe handle, banner pole, spear, etcetera. Then slice it like you would slice bread. Two slices = two lenses for cool shades.

Check out your left over sprues. Some sprue have circular notches in them. Most are too big for shades, but occasionally you get small ones which should be about perfect.

Alternatively if you don't want round shades you look for something in a shape you do want, and then slice it up in the same way (squares, ovals, whatever). You could even make your own shape out of GS (surely you have enough skills to roll a sausage with GS?) wait for it to set, then slice.

This is the only model I wish I still had from my abortive attempt at playing orks in 2nd ed. He had a bolt pistol in his other hand and a chaos warrior's cape, looked like an orkie superhero
edit - I guess that picture isn't very clear, but he has little round hippie style glasses, which I painted as dark shades

Thanks for all the help guys, I think I'll go with slicing a pole from my sprues first, and if that doesn't pan out, go with plasticard

Honestly I think GS would be a 100 times easier. Like someone said make a strip of gGS let it dry alittle then cut the shape out..

Good luck!
