Subject: Foot Eldar? Is it feasable

So I'm thinking about doing a foot Eldar army with a lot of Dark Reapers, Dire Avengers, and Harlequins. I've been told that foot Eldar doesn't really work, but what are your opinions of it?

Harlies with a shadowseer work great with an all foot list because they are hard to target at range and can provide cover for units behind them.
Dark reapers are not all that great because of all the cover saves available.
Dire avengers, while great in a mech list because of how cheaply you can get a minimum sized squad, are not as good in a foot list. I think guardians with a weapon platform and maybe a warlock attached are a much better choice for a foot list.
Wraithlords or war walkers are good heavy support choices.
The avatar is nice, as well as Eldrad, or at least a farseer to guide and doom for you.

Hmmm I didn't think about that with the dark reapers, I've only gone against them once, but they were pretty deadly. I was also thinking about going with wraithlords and an Avatar. I'm not really a fan of guardians, but I suppose they are a lot cheaper.

Kinda depended on the mission type for me in the last few games... in one game vs Tyranids a foot eldar army worked great for me when I was able to set up my units in a good way. In the next game we got Dawn of War rules which messed everything up majorly cause many units were moving and running for two turns before they could do anything.

My armies:
Eldar
Necron
Chaos Space Marines
Grey Knights
Imperial Knights
Death Guard

Also, Dark Reapers can be just what the doc ordered for cover saves if you take crack shot and a tempest launcher. I love the way they root marines out of cover.
Footdar are complex and difficult to use. In my experience with them (Avatar/Eldrad, guardians w/ heavy weapons, dire avengers, harlies, and wraithlords) I either kicked butt or lost within 3 rounds. That said, there's a few folks that do it right, but that's the trick for any eldar list.
Last night, I drew up a highly mobile, CC heavy footdar list for giggles:
Autarch w/ warp pack, power weapon, fusion gun, mandiblasters
Maugan Ra
Harlies x10 w/ PW Troopmaster, Shadowseer, Death Jester, kisses all around, and 2 fusion pistols
Harlies x10 w/ PW Troopmaster, Shadowseer, Death Jester, kisses all around, and 2 fusion pistols
Harlies x10 w/ PW Troopmaster, Shadowseer, Death Jester, kisses all around, and 2 fusion pistols
Warp Spiders x5 w/ Exarch, powerblades, 2x deathspinners, Withdraw
Storm Guardians x10 w/ 2x fusion guns, Warlock w/ Embolden and Spear
Storm Guardians x10 w/ 2x fusion guns, Warlock w/ Embolden and Spear
I'd probably add SL/SL warwalkers to upgrade.

I will take these lists into consideration, thanks guys! I've really liked Eldar for a long time, but I don't have the money to afford to buy lots of vehicles and what not, so I have to steer away from them. That's why I wanted to try footdar. So thanks for the help.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

At 1750, it's very viable. I only run 2 squads of GJB's at that level... maybe have to swap Embolden for Conceal though. I was making the list from memory and if I remember correctly I'm pretty sure you can take up to 16 in each squad and still fit them in - that may be for 1850, which is where most of my local games sit.

The main elements of a footdar list are the following:
Guardians or Dire Avengers walking in the Avatar's fearless bubble,
Harlies with kisses and including a Shadowseer for counter-charge, and
heavy support units able to target tanks and transports, like Warwalkers and Wraithlords.

Footdar is not a winner list. While its fun and can be fluffy, its not what is going to bring you wins at tourneys.
If your happy with that, then run a footdar list. The game is about having fun, not beating everyone you play.
