Why are there so few models in the necron army list? There are like a billion in the IG army list (I play IG) but there are none in the necron list. 1 HQ 1 Troop I mean for the standard force chart you have 2 options. I don't know if GW is planning to come out with more but I'd like to see more options!

The meaning of victory is not merely to defeat your enemy but destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavors, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory.

It's the oldest codex I believe. They are coming out with a new codex probably this year, the lack of finecast models supports this. As new army books and codex come out point prices get cheaper probably so you buy more.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

But will they have new models then and what do you mean the point prices get cheaper like warrior=15 or what?

Whenever a new codex is released they release new models for the army, and for one this old and with so few chooses they will likely add more options. It is likely that they will drop point costs of models to try to sell more models. This is the way GW does things.

A question fluff wise though is what else would they have as troops? I'm not familiar with Necron fluff

Because they are the first iteration of their codex. IG has had like 5 codexes.

Crons don't need a lot of choices fluff wise. They just need a few basic effective killing machines to make your life miserable, and it's easier to mass produce a selection of few rather than a wide variety of this and that.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Im sure they will get new units and new fluff to support it in the next codex which should be the next non-whitedwarf coming up. I hope they get a lot of really cool new units like that armored forge world centipede which looks cool as hell.

Here a short wiki article on how Necrons began:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrons
Basically they started with a handful of units in 2nd edition, were blown up in 3rd edition to a small but complete Codex (like Grey Knights and more or less Sororitas). Since then they are waiting to gain some weight to become a standard sized Codex. They are still waiting.

Have you read their fluff?
Necrons kill everything and eat their souls.
They are not gonna employ mercenaries or slaves.

Actually, they don't just kill everything. Sometimes, they spare certain individuals in their raids, sometimes they take a few, sometimes they take the entire population, without killing, sometimes they harvest not the "souls," but the glands and organs of populations, always for a purpose.

Oh, and IIRC, sometimes, Necrons DO utilise brainwashed human slaves. Though I forget where I read that.

Kroot ninja'd me. I did some retro reviews about the first few Necron rules in 2nd edition. Basically they were the first army that were not in Rogue Trader and GW put them out as a trial balloon towards the end of 2nd. They wanted an army that needed only a handful of models to play.

It almost died there, it wasn't in the 3rd edition main rule book but they got some stop gap rules in WD. Finally they did the full codex which gave them a whole new look.

So the Necrons were always small in the number of models in an army and the number of units in the Codex.
