Hello dakka,

I have always wanted to have a blog. I have tried before, and not done so well (see: Crashed and Burned). But I recently started a project that I am very excited about. An Iron Warriors Army. But first, the story behind it.

My cousin recently quit warhammer and went off to college. That left his mom/ my aunt with tons of models taking up space. She knew that I played, so asked me if I wouldn't mind taking them. I agreed, and in 5 days two MASSIVE boxes showed up with a chaos army and many DE models. It also came with clippers, files, paint, the planet strike book and the necron and CSM codex. I had a use for everything. And so the Iron warriors project began.

Unfortunately for me, my cousin played Deathguard/ Thousand Sons. And to make things worse, many models were either missing or damaged from the shipping. So my first job was to repair and find out what I had just got, and then to begin the process of repainting everything I could use. So that is what I have been doing.

The reason I wanted to try my hand at a blog again was due to Gitsplitta. His blog inspired me to make my own. His mantis warriors are unique, well painted, the blog is great and he has a lot of fun with them. I urge you to check it out if you have not already. I am hoping to do the same with not only my Iron warriors, but also with my DE, IG, BA, WoC and Khador armys. In this blog I will being working and playing with all my armys (Some more then others). But enough talking, you came to see the models, not somebody ramble on.

Here is what is going to be my Iron Warriors:

It looks very nurgley now, but that will be fixed with some good old fashion simple green.
From left to right: Two Obliterators (WIP), One squad of CSM with a champion with a powerfist and bolter and a meltagun,Two Rhinos with Stormbo-Twinlinked Bolters, a Lord in terminator armor (A stand in for my real lord, who will have a chainfist and a combi melta), 5 plauge marines with 2 plasma guns and a second CSM squad with the same load-out as the first.

An aspiring champion. The models I got had no sergeants with powerfists, so I made some that use possesed arms that are based on powerfists.

The second champion, this one with the arm from the warsmith box. Also a powerfist.

Sorry for this next picture. It is blurry (Ipod camera), but it is supposed to be my "running man", a running CSM. I am proud of how well the model turned out.

The list that I am using these models for is as follows:

1 lord in terminator armour w/ Combi Melta and chainfist

2x CSM squads with 10 men, a melta gun and an aspiring champion w/ a powerfist. Rhino's w/ twinlinked bolters for transport

1 5 man squad of plauge marines w/ 2x plasma guns

2 obliterators

It comes out to 1000 points on the nose.

Thanks for reading. I know it isn't much, but I hope to update this blog soon with some painted models, instead of just repaired ones.

Good luck with the blog and your Iron Warriors project. It just so happens that I have a Iron Warriors w.i.p. blog on here also, just click the link in my signature. Feel free to use any ideas that you like from it. And check out the link on the second or third page... it's a really good bionics tutorial.

Alright, got that test figure done. He looks great. Again, Ipod camera to blame for the blurry pics.

Next up on the assembly block:
Two obliterators. The weapons are a pain to fix.

Next up to paint (As the rest of the army is bathing in simple green) is this Sorcerer from the Thousand Sons box. He will be painted as an iron warrior. Unfortunately, the rest of the models are either damaged beyond my skill or missing, so no new squad there.

I hope to have more done for the next update, so stay tuned!

Nice stuff, from what I can see. The pictures are a tad too dark. Consider putting together a light box. White colored carton should do the trick. Then, turn on the Macro Function on your camera, it makes for clearer and more detailed pictures.

Good luck!

Quick mini-update:

Metal Obliterators are the worst things I have ever had to put together, especially when you don't have all the parts. Models still in their simple green bath and I plan on going to GW tomorrow to pick up a terminator lord and an IG chimera.

Alright, I have good news and bad news:

The good news is that I now have 4 fully painted iron warriors.

I have as much basing material as I will ever need.

And the simple green bath went well, minus some minis that fell apart.

The bad news is that, for the next week, I will not be working on my Iron Warriors. As I said, this blog is not just about my Iron Warriors, but my other armies as well. There is a 1500 point tournament coming up, so I need to put some work into my IG. It is exactly one week from today, so for now I will be working on IG (Although some Iron Warriors might sneak in).

I am also having to consider selling one of my armies. I can not support the amount I have, so I may sell my DE and, although this is unlikely, my WoC.

Alright, so I finished two models, an IG sniper (Also my first greenstuff experiment) and my Company Commander. The sniper is made of bits, with a SM scout sniper and torso with Cadian Legs and head. Not too bad. The cloak has two shades of grey and black, which is a nice urban theme. Th Company commander was just washed and based. Not the best paint job I have ever done, but I love the model, which is a mix of cadian and catachan bits.

I like the Guard color scheme. Nice job on those guardsmen.

It has served me well thus far. This list will make Mission 1 a piece of cake. Mission 2 looks about the same difficulty, but Mission 3 scares the hell out of me. Multiple objectives, spread out, and I have to walk there. Will be the most challenging.
I play at a GW bunker, so a good turnout is expected. We have a local vulcan drop pod player who is the guy that scares me the most. We have fought in every tournament we have both been in except for the last one. His list will eat mine alive.

One the modeling side of things, I might be building a second sniper, like I showed here. I have also been putting together more iron warriors and messing with my khador. I have also been painting guardsmen. My appologies to the chaos fans who follow this blog, I will get back to them eventually. I plan on selling my DE (Would be my 4th 40k army, no time to work on them) and my WoC (Honestly, it is for fantasy, and I never play fantasy). Those funds will go towards a new chaos rhino and possibly expanding my IG to 2000, or I might save it. Hope to have a battle report for you from the tournament and more painted IG latter this week. Thanks for reading.

Back from the tournement. 3 losses. I was very upset. Will be making a few changes to the list.

So, after thinking about what I did wrong at the 1500 point tournament, and having my list on the HEROIC 28's podcast, I am going to be making some changes to my IG. I will be buying 2 boxes of cadians and a basilisk kit. Or rather, that is what I am tradeing my WoC army for. But as of now, as the last tournament showed me, my IG are close to unplayable. Which leaves me in a bit of a problem. I cant play my CSM, can't play my IG, my WoC and DE armys on up for trade, so can't play them and the local GW dose not have any PP tables. (shocker ) Well, that means I get to turn to my BA. In the next few days I hope to have army pictures up. 70% painted. My apologies to those who follow the blog, as I haven't had many updates, but I am hoping to get back to work and finally get a painted army.

A lot has happened since my last update.

First off, the whole reason I started my blog, my CSM, are gone. Traded for Tau. Nice part is, Tau is what got me into the hobby in the first place. (Dark Crusade). However, that is not what I bring.

On December 17th, the GW Battle Bunker in Seattle is having a 2000 point tournament. Fully painted and based requirement, including one piece of GW terrain. I plan on attending. I will be running my BA. On a more urgent note, they are holding a 1500 point tournament on the 26th of November. I plan on showing up with a fully painted army. So far, it looks like this.

Thats 2 vindicators, 3 razorbacks, 2 assault squads, a Reclusiarch, a Deathstar HG squad, 2 priests and a Furioso Librarian Dreadnought. It ranges from fully painted/ based to bare plastic. The most recent work I have done was basic work on one Assault squad. They still need to be washed and based.

Next up is the Furioso, then the other squad, then the vindicator, the Honor guard squad, the razorbacks and then the priests. I have my work cut out for me (Including building a storm raven), but at this rate, it looks like I will be attending.

Thanks for reading, next update will come whenever I have time.
