Feast of Blades sounds pretty darn sweet. Too bad it's on the wrong side of the country.

Closest qualifier to me is 7 hours away Just probably not possible this year. Maybe next year they'll hit up one of the 3 shops around Minneapolis that run regular tournaments (Tower Games, Legion Games, and Phoenix Games) to run qualifiers. We'll see

got signed up for this. i was only the 6th person to pre register, which kinda cracks me up given that the feast of blades tournament at mind games a couple weeks back filled all 16 spots nearly a month prior.
noone seems to know who is running it, and given the short notice for the tournament, im a little wary of it being a fiasco. guess we will see

I am the TO for Feast of Blades. If you have any direct questions shoot me an email at Feastofblades (at) gmail (dot)Com
To speak directly to the comments made.
1. @Mannahnin: This originally started only as a Colorado tournament and has grown to 8 states this year. I am planning expansion, as long as it is supported and asked for by the players. Shhot me an email and we can discuss getting your home state on board. Either way, it is my vision to see this not be "on the wrong side of the country,"
2. @Hulksmash: Same story as with Mannahnin, I would love to add MN. Shoot me an Email.
3. @ser_hag A lot of guys have been having success telling their wives that the finals are in Denver, CO... A place which most wives wouldn't mind coming to (Even if you have kidos.)
4. @Blackmoor: Next year I will 100% try to get into Arizona, for now the closest is NM.
5. @Sar_Hag (part 2): Sadly, some stores are better than others at attracting the gamers. We have sent posters and postcards to hand out as marketing materials but we can't ensure that they will be effective at any given store. I guess the bright side is that with 6 people it is easier to qualify, lol... As to the short notice, I have been talking to stores since April about getting on board, some were quicker to say yes than others. Those that have "short notice," was not for lack of our contact. Next year, stores will be given 6 months to prepare, just to be sure.
Since nobody knows about me here is a little intro:
- I am Duke from Bell of Lost Souls and Dukesinferno.blogspot.com
- I have been playing 40k since RT and Ive won several large GT's even back when GW ran them ( lol)
- Im an Ex Air Force Officer and I hold an MBA so this event is run high and tight with lots of funding, I can tell you it WON'T be a fiasco.
I am always open to having discussions with players. Shoot me an email at the address above if you have any questions, comments or ideas. I hope to see you on the rosters!
Honor your Chapter!
Duke

cool, thanks for the reply.
is the third mission anywhere online? i browsed the website and didnt see it.
what will the prize breakdown be? anything for best painted?
are you personally running it?
i used to travel around to a lot of cons for the lotr card game back in the day, so the thought of going to denver to play some 40k sounds like the good old days. added bonus: some friends of mine are having their baby in denver right around that time, so i think a family vacation may well be in order (assuming i qual, lol).

No problem.
The third mission is a "surprise," but don't worry it isn't going to be a major curveball. In fact it won't be a cureveball at all, I am just "withholding it" for now.
The Prizes (for the qualifier level) will be handled at the store level, as such some stores will have better prize support than others. Best painted prizes will also vary by location.
I am the Grand-Overseer/ Mastermind/ CEO, etc... I will not personally be running any store qualifiers, though I do have minions/helpers/volunteers who will be running the RTT qualifiers at the different locations.
Even if you don't qualify, I would highly suggest coming to the con. We have an Open 40k GT which is for anyone who wants to enter. IF you place in the top 4 of this open GT you can qualify for the invitational in 2012. We will also have one last Qualifier the Friday Night before the Con (November 4) We will fill all "no show," spots with winners from this "qual by fire,"
Best of luck! I hope to see you there. If you have any questions about Utah you can contact our Utah State Rep: Reggie. His contact info is on the "state rep," area of our website www.feastofblades.com

I attended (and won) the qualifier at colpar hobbies in littleton this weekend and it was by far the most fun I have had at a tournament in a long time. Good missions, strong rules clarifications, and a good time had by all.
I love how the painting score works as well 40ish points for painting with the first 15 you get counting toward battle points (10 points for having your army painted then another 5 for having them based). So it lets the really nice armies play for best painted while still allowing a tabletop painted army a chance at best overall.
Thanks for putting this together.

Played at Blakfyre on Saturday, had a great time. Brought my Tau army, won Best Army Appearance.
Won my first two games and made it to table 1 with the most battle points. Then the gods decided Tau winning would be absurd. DoW mission, didn't get first turn, against Mech BA with 2 'Fear the Darkness' Libbys. Game over, never had a chance. Buddy of mine also ran Tau and went into round 3 on table 2, and had a similar fate to me. Not enough time to get away from the board edge= 1200 pts of Tau failing -2 Ld morale checks and running off the board. Oh well, had a good time, no Colorado for me.
Marines (BA), Marines (BT), and Marines (Vulkan) pulled top three, in that order. I got 4th overall still in spite of my huge defeat in the last round.
