I just thought I'd throw this out and see what people think. The idea is using Deff koptas as a wall instead of Killa Kans. Here's the break down

Killa Kan Wall
x2 rocket Launcha
x1 Grotzooka
Grot Riggas
pts =158

Model coverage roughly 4" square
Unit wall coverage 10" 2+4+2+4+2
Movement 6"
Rate of fire 4 rounds per turn

With Big Mek only one Kan gets Cover save.

x3 = pts 474

Deff Kopta Wall
x4 Rocket Launcha
x1 buzzsaw
Pts = 240

Model Coverage roughly 3" square
Unit wall coverage 26"
Movement 12"
Rate of fire 5 rounds per turn 4 twin linked.

With Big Mek entire unit gets cover save.

x3 = 720

...Except the the kopta is mounted on a flying base, so you can shoot right under it without anything getting a cover save...

I don't any rules that say you can fire under a unit and not fire though a unit. what if the Kopta is bobbing up and down like I imagine a deff kopta would. In the rules is states that even though you have line of sight you have to imagine that things are moving around and ducking and weaving. Tecnicaly you're still firing though a unit. I mean if two Kans are four inches apart there's nothing blocking line of sight but you still get a cover save.

That's becuase if you have 2 kans 4in apart then unless you have a 5man unit, then the rest of the unit is behind the kans, and so only like 5 guys are in los, so they get cover. Besides, kans are just better then koptas for this purpose. They have an armour value, can only be harmed by str 5 and above, and can't be insta-killed. And if your koptas have buzzsaws the kans are cheaper too.

Grot Riggas are totally pointless on Kans in a squad.

Also, move the Mek up and give all the Kans a save.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Killer Kanz are walkers they don't take leadership/morale checks, Deff Koptas has a 7 leadership think about it...

I see no argument for using deffkoptas instead of kans. Kans are cheaper, harder to kill, move the same as what they are screening, get a better cover save from big meks, have better shooting weapons, are better in close combat (ok, maybe not, but are even at worse) and aren't require to take leadership tests.

Considering kans come with DCCWs, they're far and above better in close combat. Honestly though, Kans and Koptas are apples and oranges. Although they can both carry rokkits, they serve different purposes. Kans are meant to be up in front causing a ruckus while koptas are meant to outflank and hit side and rear armor on tanks, or harass understrength heavy weapons squads or what have you.

I always thought you could shoot under things with flying bases
