heading into the city centre today and I'm going to pick up a HQ for my GK's

Got the rest of the paint I'll be using from Malestrom Games since the shops near me dont sell Vallejo Game colour. Forgot to pick up the metalics I'll need

so my question is who's metalics are better? GW or Vallejo? I ask because If GW's are the better of the two I can pick it up today, have to wait a week for vallejo

Vallejo Air metallics are by far the best
GW metallics are next best
Then Vallejo Game Color
Finally Vallejo Model Color

(though model and game are very similar quality).

Supposedly the Vallejo Liquid Gold range is one of the best choices for metallics - but they are a bit harder to work with, since you need alcohol to clean your brushes. Even a tiny amount of water will cause rust and ruin your paint. Check out Buypainteds channel on youtube, especially the vids on the war and necrosphinx. There he uses Liquid Gold paint and you can see for yourself how good they are.

Hope this Helps,

I have used the alcohol based paints and they do look amazing, never heard about the rust thing. That could be pretty epic for weathering though.

Just a heads up that there are a chain of so called value stores opening up near me in the midlands.
I have noticed that they all seem to stock Vallejo paints if there happens to be one near you, thought id post this just in case.

Another vote for the Vallejo liquid gold paints, they are fantastic. excellent coverage and strong colour, with a decent range too

Dark Sphere in London Waterloo have just got some into stock

I haven't been impressed with Vallejo's game or model colour metallics (specifically the golds)... I've actually gone back to Coat D'arms, since I don't much like GW's current golds either.

@Insaniak the metallics we are talking about are a bit different. They are not Acrylics paints but can be used with them. The flake is really really fine and can almost be buffed lightly once applied.

Anyone of you guys know, if the alcohol based Vallejo Model Colors are the same as the Liquid Gold ones? My two favorite online-stores and my FLGS carry these Model Colors, but not the Liquid Gold range, so if the two are actually the same, that would be quite awesome :-)

Cheers,
