First I would like to say I have the rulebook from AoBR
Now then, say I have a poisoned 4+ gun with a strength of 4.
Say this gun hits a model with toughness 4
Say I fail the 4+ poisoned roll
Do I get to re-roll the result?
I know that if this was a poisoned close combat weapon I could, but the AoBR book doesn't have any rules on poisoned guns.
Thanks for any help.

The AoBR rulebook has the same rules section as the full-sized rulebook.
There are no rules for ranged Poisoned weapons. It's fairly safe to assume that they follow the same rules as Poisoned close combat weapons, though.

No re-roll. The line on re-rolls specifically says it is in close combat.

So That is one yes and one no...

You'll have to tell us what gun in particular.

Actually, that was one 'no' and one 'they follow the same rules'... which would also be a 'no' since, as Crevab says, the re-roll is specifically stated as applying to close combat.

It's no particular gun. I was just using that profile just to represtent a poisoned gun.

There aren't any general rules for poisoned shooting weapons, so trying to find how your hypothetical gun (with no rules) works is pointless.

I can't think of any ranged gun that is poisoned with a strength value.

ok, fine, we'll say that I'm shooting a boltgun armed with hellfire rounds (a strength 1 Poisoned 2+ Rapid Fire Shot) at some Toughness 1 model.
Really, using my made up gun yields the same results as hellfire, as there are no re-roll special rules.

Hellfire rounds will not reroll to wound. If you assume they use the same Poison rules as CCWs, then those rules only allow wounds caused in close combat to be rerolled, and a boltgun with hellfire rounds will never fire in close combat.
What exactly are you trying to do here?

Right, there arn't rules governing this situation because, afaik, it doesn't exist.
It's like saying... "Well, what are the rules for me throwing my models onto the table." Well, there aren't any because that situation doesn't/can't happen.

Still it seems strange that a human wielding a poisoned blade is more effective at killing someone then a gun that shoots poisoned bullets at the same strength

A Boltgun with Hellfire Rounds doesn't have a Strength value.
And this is as far as I know the case with every poisoned ranged weapon.

Someone who has coated their blade in a poison is still stabbing you.
Someone who has replaced the explosives in a bolter shell with poison isn't hitting you with an explosive bolter shell.

Gw FAQed this
Hellfire rounds (and from memory every other poisoned gun unless specified) are strength 1

Hellfire rounds are S1, check the errata.
Matt, I'd say it's how the rules work, but that situation is basically impossible outside of Apocalypse. I can't think of a way to shoot at a T1 model in 40k standard.

I mean that it can't be stupid as it literally does not exist. If you're making up a situation, why not just make up a situation that you don't think is stupid?

Actually poison weapons are any weapons that wound on a fix value (not Strength vs Toughness) so cover things without the word poison in the profile. As such the Needle Pistol with its Str3 always wounding on a 2+ is a poison weapon but since you only get the re-roll in CC so it's a moot point.

Tri - incorrect. An Agoniser is NOT a posioned power weapon, for example

Executioner Pistol R:12" Str:4 AP:2 Type: Pistol, Poisoned (2+)

Tri - yet your statement is still incorrect. Just because something wounds on a fixed value does NOT make it a poisoned weapon.
