There was a game that I had when I was young (90s). I'd like to find it again but I have no idea what it was called. I will try to give as much information as I can.

...

The game was set in a fantasy setting and involved plastic miniatures, which where sold separately/individually, and came pre-painted. There where roughly 20 characters. Each one represented a fantasy style hero or villain.

Each character also came with a cylindrical tower, about an inch high (purple coloured) that fit onto the bottom of their base. Each tower had the characters stats (weapon skill, speed, agility, etc...) written around the sides.

The base of the tower was hexagonal so that the whole tower could be removed and rolled like a dice for combat.

The bottom base of the tower could also be pulled off, and inside where about 50 little rubber/plastic skull trophies.

Each miniature had little spikes around their base for collecting trophies. (When you beat someone you would take one of their skulls and mount it on your base).

If anyone else remembers a game like this, or what it was called that would be fantastic.

The only character I can remember from the game by name was a barbarian style warrior called 'Blood Jazzrax' (uncertain of the spelling) can't seem to find any mention of him on Google though.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who remembers, or knows what it is called.

OH MY GOD

I remember this! But I can't remember what it was called...!

You just bought the guys, i think. There was no central 'board game' with expansions, just the collectable guys....

My son has some kind of Skeleton Warrior built like that. Lord knows where he got it from. If I can find it, I'll see if there is a makers mark on it anywhere. If memory serves it was one of the big names, like Galoob or Mattel.

Slight Digression: @A Black Ram..your avatar looks familiar. Young lady possibly called Ayria? I may be wrong.

I was going to go look, but I realised that the baby is in the same room as the toybox, and he R sleeps. Maybe in the morning?

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

Yes, that sounds about right. I never had any kind of board for them, though I wasn't 100% sure that one didn't exist.

Yeah that would be amazing If you were able to find one. I've been trawling Google and retro toy sites for days without turning up anything.

I used to have four, but I can't seem to find any of them. I strongly suspect that they were thrown out years ago. One of them was certainly a skeleton warrior though... fingers crossed it's the same type of thing

Thanks ArbeitsSchu

I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about toys and games from that era, but it does not ring a bell. This may suggest that it was a UK thing, despite the other American poster who thought his son had such a figure. Based on the general description I actually suspect that it may be a Japanese in origin with a limited UK release. This would also explain why searches in English are not turning up much info. Try trolling some Japanese sites dedicated to 90s toys. Also maybe some of our friends in Japan can help.

There was a similar game in the US called Dark Tower, but I don't think they are the same. There are a lot of differences in the description, but it was the first game that came to mind.

The only thing marked on the figure was "bloodrac" on the bottom. It looks a little bit like Mumm-Ra but with a sword and armour. Not sure if it actually is the same range, but I have seen those tower-based chaps before somewhere. I vaguely recall people thinking the skulls were sweets.

@ Spaceelf.. I'm not American. Dakka just thinks I am, apparently based on my IP. I didn't even notice those little flags til the other day.

I saw this thread and immediately remembered these things from when I was at primary school.

Like everyone else I couldn't remember the name and it's been bugging me ever since, I kept checking back to see if anyone had solved the mystery of the unidentified game.

Well, after some frantic Googling, I think, I might have an answer, or at least part of an answer...

I found this very similar post on Warseer:-

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220237&page=2

In this, someone identifies them as 'Hero Gladiators' made by a company called Bluebird.

Hunting around for these on the interwebz doesn't throw up much, the only other thing I found was this:-

http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B00446DHGA/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0

Now, the thing in the above link doesn't look exactly as I remember them, perhaps this is an updated, later release or perhaps my mind is a bit hazy after all those years? It may give us something further to go on in terms of identifying them.

Hope this helps!

Wow, i had one of these back when i was a kid, That hand drawing called forth a whole bunch of good memories. But I'm in the same boat, i have no idea what they were called.

The Amazon image is the correct product but i also agree they do not look right, colours are to bright and the name used does not seam right, but i could be very wrong.

edit. Found on ebay, Hero Gladiators must be the correct name.
