Quick question: If a unit arrives, say, via drop pod, or perhaps a unit has an IC inside it, like a Rune Priest inside a GH squad, do I shoot the unit including the RP like normal? What about the Drop Pod, and, say, a Dreadnought?

The reason I'm asking is that for scoring sometimes you get a mission that states that all models may contest, and killpoints are for models. What I mean by this is: If my Grey Hunter squad with a Rune Priest and wolf Guard gets eradicated, and I have no more Wolf Guard left, that would be three kill points for him (RP, GH squad, and Wolf Guard).

For shooting purposes for the aforementioned rule, how does this work? Thanks in advance for clearing this up. I'm also assuming you can't shoot using this rule if you're in combat.

see if i can clear this one up (sorry in advance if im wwrong =p)

ok we'll clear up the kill points thing first, lets take the humble tactical squad, beef it up with a nice shiny rhino and Vulkan he'stan if you wish, if the enemy spent a whole turn shooting at them (apart from being silly for ignoring the rest of the army) and killed the whole squad, but left he'stan alive, as well as the rhino, they would only get one KP, if however, yiou got unlucky and they spread there fire out a bit more, and shot the rhino blowing it up as well as killing the whole squad and he'stan they would gain 3 kill points (1 for the rhino, 1 for the squad and 1 for he'stan). basically HQ's count as a kill point, as do all dedicated transports (chimeras, mycetic spores and drop pods etc etc). they only type of thing you wouldn't get an extra kill point for is an upgrade character, such a scout sergeant telion, if he and his squad where killed you would still only get one point. some upgrade characters, notably in tanks (I believe only chronus falls into this) will still count as an extra kill point i believe, as he has a chance to survive the explosion of the tank and start walking around going 'oo look nima free KP'

that should clear up you question, but just to make it sure, HQ's, troops, elites, fast attacks, heavy supports and dedicated transports all count for kill points, and all of them can contest objectives, however only troops (under normal game conditions) can capture an objective, hope that helps =)

Thanks! That clears up my first question; now I just need clarification on if I can shoot at, say, a drop pod AND it's contents when they drop in, and an IC and their troop unit via the Inquisitor Coteaz "We've been expecting you" rule.
