So there was a tourney today at 500 points - and the dark eldar player seemed to have quite a lot of models and heavy weapons on the battlefield for the points...... and no codex :/ since it was a small tourney at my FLGS his list flew - but please tell me if his list is possible.

I'll recreate it as best as possible.

HQ: Some guy with a small retinue - there was a "hellrifle" in the squad? It was a model with a halberd looking thing. There were 3 models with it and I think a blaster in the squad.

ELITES:

A squad of 4 guys with 2 dark lances and a blaster (with ld 9)

Troops:

2 squads of 5 guys with blasters

Fast - 5 beasts and a handler

Dedicated transport - A Raider? or Ravager? it had armor 10 all around, some shield giving it a 5+ save, another which reduced my range by 6" and 2 6-shot cannons that poisoned on a 4+.

I'm not too sure about the retinue, but:

Haemonculus, hexrifle - 65p
3 wracks, no wargear - 30p

4 trueborn, 2 lances, blaster - 113p

5 warriors, blaster, raider, flickerfield - 130p
5 warriors, blaster, venom, nightshield, extra cannon - 135p

beastmaster, 5 khymerae - 72p

Total comes out to 545p.

A haemunculous with a hexrifle. Legit, but the others may have been 'wracks'. The haem is 70 ish points and another 35 or so for the whole unit, if they're wracks, with no upgrades. The halberd lookin' thing ... can you find a picture of it in GW's DE listing?

Yep. Trueborn can do this, all legit. 115 ish points.

Yup. Khymereas which have an Invuln Save, and their Beastmaster. 70 ish points with no upgrades.

A Venom, the newer model. 5++ is from a FlickerField. 12 shots from two Splinter Cannons, Heavy 6, and because they're poison, they count as 'defensive' weps for purposes of moving Cruising Speed and firing all. 80 or so here.

Barely 490 in points and I did some rounding up, so he had room for some add'l upgrades.

Wow - that seems..... broken. He took the tyranid player out without losing a model - destroyed typhus and chaos - I gave him the closest run for his money but only because I ran a Stromraven (I was expecting more psykers and armor than there actually was).

At 500 points with that kind of firepower what in the world do you do? Well, I suppose destroy the venom and focus on everything else...

Yeah, venoms are sick. I run four of them at 1850. Three of them have those 4 Trueborn in each, each one with a blaster. So, that's 48 poison shots, and 12 lance weps. 600 to 700 points. Last venom has scoring warriors, no blasters.

A tau list at 500 can trash 'em (Firestorms). Most SM lists won't. A GK list, with maybe two HB razors ... Bugs, no. ... Eldar? I don't know enough about a jetbike list, but a standard DireAvenger/WaveSerpent list won't do neither, I think.

From your description it does indeed seem like the player went ~50 points over.

I come up with less than 490. I rounded up a lot so as not to violate GW's Intellectual Property rights by exactly quoting points. So the total is actually less, leaving room for a wep upgrade. How do you get 550 - ish?

DE do bad things at lower points games. I played in a league whose games where 750 points. I played in the first two or three weeks of the league but sat out the final week and still have more then enough points to be in first

I literally plugged his description into army builder.

@ph34r - you also presumed a Raider and a Venom while the OP clearly indicated only a single Venom was in the list - that's why yours went over points by the cost of a Raider as compared to Brother's estimate.

Going with only what he listed I get 465 - that leaves plenty of room for some other upgrades or for any little things the OP forgot about.

Legal list was legal.

Dark eldar are epic in low point games

That list is definitely legal, but also very lethal.

Ah, I took "and another" to mean transport. Also given that venoms are so extremely different from raiders/ravagers I figured he would not mistake it.
