Ihave a question about charters in close combat. If I have a unit that is attacking another unit that has a character in the first rank may I attack that character with my models that are in base contact with that character as long as I announce that I an doing so and roll the dice separately?

Also may I target a unit champion under the same circumstances

Thanks in advance.

Not just models in BtB, but those models making supporting attacks behind them are also able to allocate to the character.
