I wanted to add a piece of line-o-sight blocking terrain to my table, so I made this guy. Terrain Piece: Ruined Building. Foam board, simple dry brush job.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

I would recommend taking some sprues and make re-bar sticking from the platforms, making some stairs/ladders to the platforms, and put some rust on.

It's a tall order, sure, but those models deserve good terrain!

Looks alright, but it definitely could use more to make a more exciting piece. The aforementioned rebar would be cool, as would some rubble around the base of cut up chunks of foamcore.

Looks great ! agree more debris on the base but work with what you got i have been on terrain budget and making small ruins similar to this out of 6 pack and other assorted cardboard lots of spray paint and a coat of acrylic and then more spray paint and its all good sometimes you end up with a little lean but its easily corrected keep up the good work

Decent clean, a table full of those would play pretty well.

Intended humorously, I always wondered what happened to the rest of the structure when I see the classic 40k building corner. Ruined buildings don't really leave a single clean corner and a nice flat sand lot beneath them...

(Though I fully understand that's easiest to make!)

Good job. The only thing I would suggest is getting some kind of straightedge or level for the next piece you do, so that you can level your windows up. Other than that, it is structurally sound, is obviously intended to represent a ruined building, and is interactive (the models can move in on and around it) so I love it! Interactive terrain is much better than decorative terrain. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

@Jimsolo: That was my exact thought...right after I cut out the windows and put the pieces together the first time. Doh! Live and learn.

@Augustus: Thanks for taking the time to post those pictures! Good resouce for my next piece.

@Others: My next piece will have more rubble, rebar, and other details. This one was a spur-of-the-moment "Hey, I don't have enough line of sight blocking pieces" sort of project that I did one afternoon. Rounds 2 and 3 will have more detail. I'll probably use my Hirst Arts with those.

For what it is, this piece looks great!
One question, what thickness foamboard did you use?
