When I read the title "Adeptus Mechanicus Forge World" I imagine a planet like Necromunda or Mars. Planet with no animal or plant life. With poison atmosphere or little atmosphere at all, with acid rains etc... Primary because AM produce a LOT of vehicles ( especially Gryphonne IV witch was one of 2 Forge Worlds in the galaxy with schematics for rare Vanquisher tank... ). And when I saw the picture of the planet I saw Earth like planet with LOTS of plants and even oceans...

Seems like GW writers and painters forgot the effect of thousands of years of industry that is 1000x bigger than an today Earth one can do wonders to nature of that world... No wonder it attracted the Tyranids, I would like to eat that pretty planet to if it was a burger or a nice juicy stake

And would the Nids even care about buildings, factories and such?
If not, why don't the AM send a team to rebuild and restart the factories? Sure they would be intact if Nids don't have any interest in them.

And I imagine that most of the Forge World population woudl be Tech priests, Skitarii and Servitors...
Would Nids even be interested in such low biomass? ( well, they don't have that much flesh left in them )

While the pretty plant life is rather odd the oceans could be filled with the pollution of thousands of factories where only the most twisted fish or aquatic life could exist.

Nid's also near metal for claws and the like, and here is a nice shiny planet filled with it.

There are hives filled with millions of the labourers (sp?) that toil in the factories every day. Yes there are skiitari and the like but the general population is still Joe Schmoe.

Yes the Nid's would be more than happy to eat a planet like that. There would be so little left. Most likely none of the buildings, none of the metal from the devouring of the world.

IIRC in the 4th ed codex it states that a planet eaten by the Nid's is a heck of a lot smaller as it eats down. . . a couple miles? towards the core.

Metals, minerals, organic material, atmosphere. They eat _everything_
