It seems everyone either loves the tau or despises their guts. Just wondering what peoples thoughts were on them.

I can't say I have any particular feelings for them, I am quite neutral to them.

I'm grey on the Tau leaning more towards liking them-

They show anime influences, suck horrificly in close combat, and they're fluff approach to the war is "why can't we be friends?". On top of that they're also essentially space Communists for the few that like to get political.

What I do like about them is their awesome firepower, some of their appearances, and the use of battlesuits.

Hmm when I think about it though, if Fil Dunns XV202 was released as an official model I would probably love the tau...

That's exactly what I'm talking about! The "mecha" style robots are one of the few things that I actually like the Tau for and they have so many possibilities to branch off of that. Also, if you haven't noticed the absence of an actual Tau Titan unit it's probably because of that.

These threads tend to end badly so I'll lock this one now as a prophylactic measure.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
