Subject: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. 12 new characters, 4 revealed so far
Well looks like the internet rumors are true. UMvC3 is going to be (I assume) a completely new game. I have mixed feelings. I do know MvC3 isnt perfect and many people hate the game or at least prefer other fighting games but I still love to play it just for fun. I do feel that they havent been paying too much attention and I somewhat believe the original MvC3 might have been a rushed product but on the other hand IF this game was a fully priced game then I guess it could be worse. With 12 characters at I assume $5 a pop (like shuma and jill) thats $60 right there so I guess it pays off.
Well, what do you think?

Glad I saw this, was planning on picking up MvC3 later today, I guess I'll wait now. Anyway, this is becoming increasingly common in gaming: release the original version, and follow it up with an updated/enhanced version 6 months later. For example: Dynasty Warriors/Dynasty Warriors Legends. Its another way for the video game industry to suck money out of you by making you buy the same thing twice.
BTW, wiki says UCvM3 is going to be a 39.99 USD release. My guess is that they are probably going to release it on PSN/Xbox store for 15 bucks as an expansion/update to the original copy as well.

They could easily make these new characters DLC for the game that so many people already spent 60 USD on. This would also get rid of the rift between games (not being able to play online between the two games is ridiculous).
They've already done this three times with Street Fighter IV. Frankly, I'm sick of it.

"Marvel is adept at telling stories involving multiple universes, but even THEY can't imagine a universe where you don't have to buy a Capcom fighting game once".
If they add Co-op, I'll totally get it just because I know a fair few Capcom people (True Dante, Wesker, among others) and I have Marvel Nut Friends.
Oh great, I was talking to one of my said Marvel Nut friends, and I said "Ghost Rider and Venom are who I want to see on Marvels Side, with Megaman and Nero/Vergil on Capcom's side". One down.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

To be fair on Koei, the XL versions of DW have always been cheaper than the first release, and usually add way more things than a simple DLC could do like what seems to be the moan concerning both MvC and Dead Rising 2. The fact they've also added loads of DLC this time for DW7 to me shows they have been working on the series much more this time around. Hell DW6 has been pretty much panned by all quarters now, even the fans, and they didn't bother with a DW6 XL. Went straight to Empires, which has always been the best and most value for money expansion they do, once again, usually for less than a full price game.
DW 7 XL is adding at least 3 new characters, (Which is a big result as normally Koei haven't added any characters on top of the main cast, only DW6 Empires added a character, and that was due to fans moaning on how poor the overal cast was in DW6, we actually lost characters with DW6 starting with only 41, where as up until then we'd gained more each game since DW2 came out. In Dw7 we went up to 62.) All three of the XL characters are oddly Wei at the mo, so I'd be surprised if no one else appears before release, new weapons, rare items, stages and such are being added, and a system that for the first time that will allow you to bring Items/weapons back from the XL game into the standard DW7 game. Free Mode is being brought back, but I really enjoyed conquest mode that replaced it in the main game, still wrapping it up some four months after it came out. There is also a new co-op Story mode, and they are bringing back Legend and challenge mode.
A lot of flak can be levelled at Koei for not introducing enough characters at times, or their bizarre choices on who makes it as a playable, but the XL and the even more so Empire expansions have always been a pretty much a bonus not a negative.
