Hey,

So I'm using fortress grey as the base colour for the skin on my DE, any tips on whats best to shade and highlight with? I want to keep the colour kind of as is but be able to pick out the muscle definition, any tips appreciated.

I'm not to familiar with eldar but what i would do is prime it black, and do a good dry brush over the model and try to avoid the muscle's dark spots. Then maybe do a brown wash or a black wash depending on what you want the peice to look like. Then finally a thin white highlight to make the muscle stand out. Hope that helped.

Thanks buddy - I started out with a black undercoat, but struggled to make out the detail. My main colour is purple too, which doesn't stand out well on a black basecoat.

What I've done so far is (with my wyches anyway)

- white undercoat
- wash whole miniature with gryphonne sepia OR wash each area in respective colour wash (purple / green / black)
- coat soon-to-be gold parts in black
- paint purple areas
- paint skin in fortress grey
- pleugh (translation, not got much further than this

Is there a standard wash colour that you'd use with FG, in the same way that there's a purple wash for purple paint? Or do I oaint all FG, then shade with black wash anddry brush again with FG?
