Hey folks. looking to get into Napoleonics with those new austrians coming out from victrix, and was wondering what systems were out there in 28mm that I could use them for. I have heard of black powder, but don't know much about it other than the name and that its published by warlord.

Any help is appreciated.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Black Powder is an excellent game. However it is intended to be played at the divisional and corps level - essentially the basic unit in the game is the brigade - 3+ infantry battalions, so it does take a fair ammount of preparation before you can start playing. The great advanatge is that you can play big battles, with lits of minis, in am evening.

One way to go, so you can get playing quickly, would be to start smalll while you build you forces. The Sharp Practice rules by Two Fat Lardies are good, and will give you a feel for the period and some fun games while you build you Black Powder forces.

You'd do well to check out The Miniatures Page as hey have discussion on most rules sets, figures ranges, etc

Lesalle can also be played with 28s as it is purely base size that drives that game, and not model size.

You might want to consider Wellington Rules by Buck Surdu. While the production isn't as shiney as some of the newer sets it was designed with 25/28mm figures in mind. You can have a nice game with two or three battalions of infantry per side with artillery and cavalry support.

It can be found at On Military Matters book store.

I second LaSalle, it is quite fun and plays to a complete game in 2-3 hours
