I am thinking about building an Imperial Fists army, and I would probably be including Vindicators. Given the color scheme, can anyone suggest how NOT to make them look like Tonka toys

I think that is really the way to go...Dirty and battle damaged will help break up the yellow.

Just some simple weathering will do it - you don't need to make it look like it went through a tumble dryer like the above Vindicator! A heavy drybrush of some browns and tans will give the impression of dirt and dust, just do it where said grime would actually accumulate, mostly near the treads.

Yes, weathering seems to definitely be necessary. I'm thinking I will also load it up with more distinctive military bits, such as whip antennas or something. Thanks for the replies.

Antennas, guns, make sure to have a commander sticking out the top or something like that.

The Imperium using advanced technology is like drinking Pepsi out of a Coke bottle.

I'm gonna be honest here; when I first opened the thread, I was expecting Vindicator conversions made out of Tonka bulldozers or such and got really excited. Then my dreams were dashed against the rocks....

Same here, we can dream... we can dream

back to the matter at hand, weathing and scratches/nicks in the armour and paint work wonders.
