Since space wolves
If assaulted, they will spring forward themselves and counter-attack the enemy.
(from 40k rulebook 5th ed.) and moving all unengaged units into base contact, do they still get a +1 to attack for charging in on this counter attack ? Or is that no because it's prior attack roll phase. I think I'm learning

They don't get the extra attack for charging, as they're not the ones charging. They get the extra attack from counter-attacking. This is an important distinction as some special rules, such as furious charge, only work when the unit in question is actually charging.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Space Wolves have the COunter Attack USR - have a read of it, in the BRB.

Ignore that mostly fluff text you quoted.

Essentially IF they pass a Ld check they gain +1A the turn they are assaulted as IF they had charged - they havent *actually* charged.

As has already been said. It is one of the little nuances that GW had to put in so as to disallow things like the Bloodclaws and anything with Ragnar going absolutely ballistic on the counter-attack.

If you are jumping on the Dinobot meme bandwagon regarding the new Warhammer 40k Chaos models, grow the feth up!

Thanks again guys for answering however, I couldn't find anything in the 40k 5th addition rule book about the +1 attack for counter attack. It merely states the rule that if charged all nonactive models in the same unit must "counter attack" or move in and touch the charging/assaulting enemies bases. Was a DL pdf review version so maybe they just didn't put that in. Didn't even mention a +1 but tomato tomAto at least I still get a +1

Ok cool Tyr. That makes sense they want to keep BClaws at bay lol.
Thanks again.

Maybe you're looking at "Defenders React" in the assault section instead of "Counter Attack" in the universal special rules section?

No, I looked in the counter attack spot.. this is what it said entirely.

Troops with this skill believe that attack is always
the best form of defence. If assaulted, they will
spring forward themselves and counter-attack the
enemy. To represent this, unengaged models from
a unit that has been assaulted (or consolidated
into) by the enemy must move up to 6" to get into
base-to-base contact with the enemy. Treat the
counter-attack as a pile-in move, which is executed
after the assaulting units have been moved, but
before rolling to hit.

Again this came from the review version with no fluff or pictures so may have been added in final cut.

verified ... syas Universal special Rules in big letters and counter attack is on first page right side :( ... don't know why it's not mentioning the +1 except this was just a review version not the final print.

I think the "counter attack phase" with the +1 attack and the "counter attack special rule" are two diff things .. .I think I remember my mentor saying something about that.

You have a different version of the rules apparently. You should get the real 5th ed. rulebook.

Coutner-attacking. To represent this, when a unit with this rule is assualted by the enemy it must take a leadership test. If the test is successful all models in the unit get +1 assual bonus to their attacks , exactly if they had assualted to.
