Hi guys,
Todays upload is my recently finished Sanguinary Priest and his buddy... the leader of my DC. Of course... There is no such thing as a leader of a squad of DC, rulewise. But I like the idea that a bunch of crazy nuts is lead into field by a even bigger maniac, refusing to die in several battles. ^^

Btw. The priest was a royal pain to paint. I really suck at painting this bone colour on the flat parts of the armour. Took me ages to get it right without major streaks from the brush, but I'm still not happy.

Another sidenote. The priest is one rare model in my growing army with no major conversion done. Besides the little chalice on his backpack. Fluff wise he carries a chalice with him but I do not like the idea or holding a oversized chalice in his hand like Corbulo. It is just silly to go to war with a cup in your hand.

Last thing to say. The banner will get a free hand motif if once I will acquire enough skill to do one.

Yeahh.... I suck at painting faces too. If you have a close look you can see that the eyes of the DC guy look kinda weird. I'm really glad that he is wearing a hood. ^^

It looks really good. I like the color and shading of the hair.

dude! I absolutly love these guys!! your SP is amazing!!! His armour is great, good idea on the bone armour! i also have poblems with that color. I always do a couple of watered down layers to prevent the brush lines. you have an amazing talent for painting flesh, whats your secret??

There are some things in painting I think I pull of quite well by now, but to be honest painting faces isn't one of them in my own opinion. ^^
I kept it quite simple: Elf Flesh, Devlan Mud Wash, Ogryn Flesh Wash. Highlight with Elf Flesh again. Finish it with another wash of Ogryn Flesh.

Is your nickname referring to the famous austrian musician?

HAHA! you my friend are being modest you pull off flesh quite well. Eyes are my biggest problem.....just can't seem to get them right for some reason.

Actually, my nickname does not refer to the austrian musician....I actually had to wiki the name to find out who you were refering to......lol

It was just a nickname I was given while running cross country in school. I liked it and it just stuck! plus it sounds like something out of the 40k universe to me.

The eyes are really hard to get right. For the priest I had to redo it three times until it wasn't looking silly.

This is one of two power weapon guys. I thought he is finished, but while taking the pictures I realized that I totally forgot about the figurine on his backpack.
*stupid me*

And the PW will get another highlight with Goblin Green.

But that has to wait until tomorrow, because it's already midnight at my place. ^^

Very clean work! It doesn't seem that there is any problems I see that are serious.

For the future though, when doing the 'seals', use a little less ink, looks like they have been running through mud.

Yep... The one got a drop on the end. I give you that.

But generally speaking I'm not a friend of those clean purity seals. These marines wear those scrolls for ages, fighting battle after battle on a deserted planet.

It looks off if they are strinking white.

nice crisp highlighting and a good choice of colours for the armour.

I really don't like the green though.. it jars with the red too much :S

Thanks... The decision for going green was mainly made because I had the Green colours at home and the blue ones not. I was not willing to wait for another internet order to arrive, nor was I am willing to pay the money for 3 other pots of paint.


Well.... So I will go this way with the rest of the army.

That power sword looks cool. The green lightning effects do not over power the piece. Nice job.

Loving the pose of the priest there, very dynamic, and I also enjoy how well the gold goes with the black, red, and parchment of the power weapon guy.
