I want to make a truly fluffy list that is still competitive. I've been doing some research on Flesh Tearers, and basically what I gather is that they only have 4 companies left, and they're all assault at this point and fall to the red thirst/black rage pretty often. They don't use many vehicles outside of Rhino's and Razorbacks, and the occasional Baal Predator and Whirlwind. I also presume that they're really good in assault, so I brought a few vanguard as well.

May not be super competitive and has it's weaknesses, but I think it's still a good list and can compete for the most part.

HQ - 620
160 - Gabriel Seth
330 - Seth's Personal Honour Guard, Banner/SS/PW Fist, Blood Champion, PW Weapon, Novitiate, Default, Razorback w/TL Lascannon and Extra Armour
130 - Reclusiarch

Elite - 130
65 - Sanguinary Priest w/PW Weapon
65 - Sanguinary Priest w/PW Weapon

Troop - 1155
300 - Death Company (9x Models), 2x PW Weapons, PW Fist, Rhino w/Extra Armour
175 - Death Company Dread w/Talons, Magna-Grapple, Drop Pod
185 - Assault Squad (5x Models) w/Storm Shield, Meltagun, Razorback w/TL Lascannon
165 - Assault Squad (5x Models) w/Meltagun, Razorback w/TL Lascannon
165 - Assault Squad (5x Models) w/Meltagun, Razorback w/TL Lascannon
165 - Assault Squad (5x Models) w/Meltagun, Razorback w/TL Lascannon

Fast Attack - 845
115 - Baal Predator w/Flamestorm
365 - Vanguard Veteran Squad (9x Models) w/2x Power Weapons, Storm Shield, Storm Shield/Power Fist, Srg Power Fist, Rhino w/Extra Armour
365 - Vanguard Veteran Squad (9x Models) w/2x Power Weapons, Storm Shield, Storm Shield/Power Fist, Srg Power Fist, Rhino w/Extra Armour

Total 2750

The Priest go in the Vanguard Rhino's, each taking up a left and right flank with an Assault Squad behind them. Death Company with Reclusiarch, Seth and his guard, and an Assault squad go up the middle. Remaining Assault squad with SS sit on my objective. Death Company Dread drops in the enemy back field taking out vehicles before assault awesomeness. Baal predator Scouts up to whatever looks like a good kill, and draws firepower.

I thought about Astorath to make more feel the red thirst, but I figured with the priest then they already have furious charge, and not being fearless is because they want their chapter to survive so they run instead of die, and there's still a chance they could get the red thirst. That could also mean death company on each side instead of Vanguard, but I'll play them as if they had rage but a little more intelligently.

Help is appreciated in both competitiveness and fluff, thank you.

This looks like it would be cool on the table. I'm not too experienced with the BAs myself though. I like that you are giving van vets a try.

Once everything disembarks then yes it will look cool, otherwise just a bunch of rhino/razorbacks.

The vets I figure 2/pts a model for an extra attack and better equipment options is worth it. It could almost take a purifier squad on the assault, and might actually tie on the assault. Only problem is that they're not scoring, but they can still contest and will be the enemies primary focus most of the time.

Theme wise A+ competitive wise....D. Can't see this ever winning you very many games at 2750 heck I would bet money on my 2000 army beating it but it is definitely a cool list with many interesting combos. The game is about having fun though so play what you want and try and make it work if you've invested the time into it already.

I like the list, but it does look much like any other mech ba list with all the razorbacks and the preds. I actually think it would be very effective on the tabletop.

As regards fluff (I play FT as well), there are only a handful of companies left, but they are not all assault. What the Index Astartes article on the Flesh Tearers said was that all the marines in the FT cross-trained as tactical/assault/devastators so they could adopt an role on the battlefield.

In addition, since the black rage affected so many FT marines, there were very few who actually attain veteran status anymore, thus veterans are rare.

Of course, in the latest BA dex, the FT became kinder and gentler than their previous fluff, so you're really free to play they however you like.

My thought with the vets isn't so much that they're 1st company vets, but instead are almost black raged. They have furious charge/FNP because of the priest, with the same amount of attacks. They're just not fearless, and don't have rage, and can loose charge/fnp with the priest gone. So I'm treating them more like semi-death company rather than vets.

I read that they where cross-trained, but that's "standard" for codex astartes as they move through the different squads/companies, standardly going from scount>Dev>Assault>Tact (change dev/assault for some chapters like BA), so they're crossed trained, but the FT are more assault and don't just have the standard 2 squads per company.

Competitve, I think if I play it right then it can do damage. The vets are almost as good as purifiers from the GK in CC (although cost 75 more points), and 5 RB TL LC and the Baal predator add in hopefully enough firepower to get to the front lines. But if not played right then would be easy to defeat.

if you had said this was competitive only list i would say its not very good. But since you are going for fluff (which i think is awesome) and competitive i think this list looks like alot of fun. I play BA myself and its hard to be competitive and fluffy. I like it though good luck
