Hey,
I am in the middle of painting a custom peice for a friend of mine. It has some parts from the blood angels, so there are blood drops all over the legs. I was wondering if anyone had a good way to paint those. I want them to be pretty bright, and have some depth. If you guys have any tps or know of any links that would be really helpful. Thanks.

Mine look decent from a distance, but if you get up close you can see the grades. I hit it with Skull White, then Blood Red. (The white makes the red pop more.) Along the bottom of the teardrop shape, I put a little streak of 50-50 Blazing Orange and Blood Red, angling so that it is off center (opposite whatever side the light is hitting the drop from). Finally, a tiny spot of skull white on the top of the drop shape, off center (towards the light source).

If you look at the Eldar Codex, they have a good guide for painting gems that works equally well for blood drops (and is pretty much the same one I use).

If you don't want the drop to look translucent, just do Skull White, then a couple coats of Blood Red.

A cheap and dirty way of making it look shiny is to put a little drop of super glue on it over the paint.

Thanks that would really help with the peice. I will have to try that.
