I'm working on making a Skitarii army and I'm curious as to how much the Adeptus Mechanicus would use Aquila iconography on vehicles, lasguns, armor, etc. As far as I've heard one of the heads of the Aquila represents Mars so I dont feel like it doesn't represent them.

Any thoughts or fluff on this matter?

Not so sure about fluff. I would assume that on units like Skitarii, they might, but sparsely, as they hold their own allegiances. Plenty of Admech symbols, cogs and skulls if there were any, but I would also say that they would little decoration like that, being purely a weapon of war, pieced together and fresh out of the factory.

While this isn't based on any fluff i've read I would think that they wouldn't use it. The aquila is used to represents the IoM including the ad mech. While it wouldn't be wrong for them to use it they have there own symbols which would take priority. If they are going to use a symbol to decorate their equipment it makes sense for it to the most symbolic one which is the skull and cog.

If techmarines don't generally wear the Aquila I don't know why full AdMech would.

Mechanicum likes it to be effective and decoration is a "human" concept, so the machine would not need it.
I think they mark their property with their sigil, and probalby the more wellknown units that fight alongside other factions of the Imperium
would sport the aquila too.
A good example for mechanicum use of Aquilas are Titans.

I'd have to agree with the majority of the posters above. the Admech would use more of the skull/Cog iconography on their own personel and equipment then the Aquila. I'd only really see the Aquila showing up on some larger battle field equipment in service along side imperial guard regements, being that while the Admech are 'part' of the IoM, they are autonomous, and answer to no one save themselves.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

If anything they would have a mark symbolizing which Forgeworld or Magos they serve.
