I've been doing a little Mass Effect Marathon, playing through 1 and 2 in anticipation for 3, and as I played, I realized that Spectres are almost like Inquisitors, except not nearly as powerful. I liked the feeling of being above the law, and it did affect many of my decisions in Mass Effect, like giving Military Officers cheek and trying to romance Ashley even though its against alliance conduct, things which I wouldnt do if I was not above the law.

I then thought how intensely awesome it would be if Bioware made a 40k based inquisitor game like this. Because of 40ks rich background, It would be so easy to create a story line and make it work. All the wargear is already there, the engine is already there (Ut3), it would just be a matter of actually designing the game. And it would sell like all hell!

I guess I just wanted to share my idea thoughts? What would you want to see in a game like this?

Since jade empire bioware have been all about their own IPs. Swotor is just fanservice really/bioware's best bet at a sucessful mmo. I do agree an inquisitor action rpg would be good though, just don't expect bioware to make it.

A mod would be easy enough to make, I reckon.

Well sure the mod would be easy enough to make, but it would suck unless you had a bunch of really skilled guys working nonstop for months. You'd convert the skins to WH40k, sure, and get the equipment, and maybe even get something of an inquisitorial storyline, but it wouldn't feel right. You would have to redesign the whole game from the ground up.

But... we could, like, sign an internet petition! Then they'll have to do what we want!

Or write them a ranty email, filled with grammatical and spelling errors. Never fails.

Well that ought to convince them to make one. But seriously, I wish they would. Someone should. Maybe we could make another petition to get Bethesda on board?

I'm pretty sure that THQ have exclusive rights to use the GW IP in games, so I don't think any amount of convincing would help any company other than THQ make a game.

I would love it, though to be honest, I wouldn't like it if it was just Mass effect in the 40k universe, not much of a fan of the combat nor the way most of rpg stuff works.

Bioware tends to include some sort of plot device that gives you a ridiculous amount of power over the game world (Jedi, Spectre, Grey Warden, etc.), so an Inquisitor game would make perfect sense for them. There are also ample opportunities to differentiate between 'Good' and 'Evil', which is another defining characteristic of Bioware games.

Unfortunately, THQ holds the license.

Well then at this point our best bet is either the two companies cooperating on it or someone making a gakky mod.

Another aspect that would be could is you could swing between radical and puritanical, too.

Which ordo would be best for the game?

Xenos of course.
Ordo Xenos not only has more fun and way more gadgets but it has several shades of grey when it comes to morals and dealing with their specified field.

Although there's a clearer line between radical and puritanical with Ordo Malleus. But I think Xenos would be more fun to play, yeah.

I guess with KOTOR you could play different classes of jedi, maybe you could play different ordos? But then they would just be different classes instead of having their own story and gameplay and all that.

I think xenos would be more fun, especially as there is more room for xeno-y stuff, but there's still a part of me that pines for ordo hereticus.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
They should also definitely make an imperial guard fps. It would be so sick. The appeal of fps games is that it puts you in the shoes of a soldier, and companies make that good by having it as action packed and dramatic and huge as possible, i.e. an invasion of the U.S. by Russia. What's more huge and dramatic and awesome than hundreds of thousands of guardsmen fighting back xenos hordes and heretical cults?

Xenos also covers the broadest range of enemies, since unlike Malleus and Hereticus pretty much only haul ass for chaos stuff. Where as Xenos targets any xenos threat, and still helps out with the daemons when needed. (just look at Eisenhorn/Ravenor).

I think a good story line for an Inquisitor RPG would be involving enslavers as the main threat :3

They are pretty much Warhammer 40k reapers when it comes to history, being both the bane of C'tan and old ones.

I guess I would be a little worried that they would screw it up, or change it drastically to fit a broader audience.

Damn, that's a scary thought. You'd be able to bone an Eldar bisexual chick and bond with a friendly ork on a mission to save the galaxy, while flying around in an archeotech ship. You'd also meet a Necron that plays computer games and thinks you're cool.

If anyone could do a good 40k or WFB RPG, it's CDProjekRed.

Also, THQ holds the 40k license and they recently signed a deal to distribute Witcher 2 in America. Hmmm...

They haven't really been able to cope with current generation technology. Though they still make good games, everything they've made since the 90's is known for being atrociously buggy and badly coded.

Well I guess we can all agree that BioWare would be the best big name company for it, but most of the really popular game series are started by little guys.

Companies only become big when they've established at least one incredibly successful franchise (BioWare was completely unknown until Baldur's Gate hit, and I'd say they didn't hit their current level of popularity until about Mass Effect). The 'little guys' either go on to be completely huge themselves, or their talent is sought after by the larger development teams or publishers (they generally end up getting split up and absorbed into larger development teams, or are kept together under a publisher's umbrella).
