Brings the cost for my planned 1,750 point army down to around $310ish from closer to $400. Below $250 for the 1,500 point version.

Ive had a good close look at the Panzer 1V's in the flesh and they are very, very good.

I had a chat with him back in May and I think Stugs will be soon too.

Maybe I will make that late war Brit tank company after all. Have to check the brass tubing at the local hobby shop to find something that is the right size for 17pdrs so I can convert some to Fireflies.

If memory serves Fireflies are generally a different type of Sherman (ie not the ones in the PSC boxes.) M4A4 or Sherman V. (VC)

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

I think even if he left them to there current state, no one would mind if he said "hey one of these shermans are a firefly, do you mind?"

Well, he would have to do something to show that the model is a Firefly.

I don't think modelling it would be all that hard. Just copy the Battlefront model by adding a block of greenstuff to the back of the turret and extending the barrel of the gun to show it's a 17 pdr isn't that bad.

Just a quick check, if I wanna play flames of war, should I buy the 1/72 scale or the 15mm scale (Im just not sure cause i was thinking they might have to be the 1/72 scale because the tanks should be massive over the infantry figures

15mm scale. 1/72 is actually 20mm scale.

You will be surprised at the relative sizes of WWII vehicles to infantry, while the miniatures aren't exacting in their relative sizes, some things just aren't as big, or small, as you thought they were.

That and infantry at 15mm is scaled in such a way that they are slightly larger, or chunkier, than they would be if it was exactly to scale. This can throw off your perception of scale.

Sherman V is a longer tank. Bit like the difference between a Panzer 3 and a Panzer 4. They share a general outline but one is generally bigger.

In my circle as long as it "looks" like a firefly and is easily recognizble as different no one is going to care that it is based on the M$A1 chassis instead of the later sherman chassis. Happily I do not play regularly with a bunch of anal freaks.

In the recent EW league I used standard bren carriers for my scout carriers and used marmon herrington armored cars for my CS9 armored cars. All easily identifiable as what they were, so no worries on converting a few fire flies either...

And some people don't like "wrong". C'est la Guerre.
