Can you be more specific? Are you looking for fresh blood, dried blood, spattered blood, etc. etc.

The best blood effect I have personally done, and I am by no means any where close to being as experienced as some here, was a happy accident of mixing Golden's Carbon Black airbrush paint with Daler-Rowney Scarlet ink. I used more red and less of the black. It had that nice darkish red color blood gets and since both dry a little glossy, it had that vaguely wet look. Since it was mostly the red ink and not a ton of paint, it was not opaque at all, which was nice. I painted the tips of a few Ork axes with it and feathered it out a bit to look like it was smeared on from battle. Will something like this work on red, perhaps, but what you want to think about is contrast from the blood to your figure's as well as pick an effect that will work i.e. spattering, smearing, etc.

Whatever you end up with, you need to make sure it looks right at different distances, depending on what are going to do with it. If you do not take this into consideration, I could see how it might look like you just screwed up your painting and not red blood on red models when on the table top or display, but it looked kick ass up close when you were painting it. You may even have to exaggerate the effect bit.

Use a darker red with gloss mixed in the pot already if you can.

PM me if you want me to draw anything related to Warhmmer 40k. I will put it in my gallery for all to see.

Layer some red ink on the affected area after all your shading is done, profit.

Bobbing along on the briny North Sea, and Montrose, Scotland when home

Humbrol, do a really nice translucent dark red, brilliant and glossy, quite gloopy too.... makes great blood,

Thay also do blue & green, great for blood spatter from orks, tau, nids etc

Well what i'm doing is a Blood angel pretty wounded, I'll post pictures when I have it done but. I'm trying to go with the effect of blood running down the wounds. He's also missing a leg so i'm going to make it pool below him.

But thanks guys, I didnt even think about using a more glossy paint for him . I need to go find some and that'll be the topping on the cake for him.
