I played an 8000+ points Apoc game on Saturday against a buddy.

I played Orks with some traitor IG armor and he played SM+SWs

Great game, lots of fun, but he proxied a Reaver Titan to bring is force up to mine.

The thing basically creamed all of the units that I brought which could damage it in T1 (Shokk Attack Battery, Pask led Vanquisher formation).

I managed to destroy 1 of its turbo lasers when Snikrot outflanked with Grotsnik, but other than that it pretty much owned me for the 3 turns we played.

So what I need to know is what units/super heavies can Orks take that are capable of putting a Reaver/Warhound down?

Orks have alot of things which can take titans down.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Assets that help with titans:

Blind Barrage - keeps it from shooting turbolasers, can only shoot indirect fire weapons.

Hammerblow - take down the 4 AV 12 shields first, then hit it with this. Could disable a few weapons.

Vortex Grenade - Zaggstruk deepstriking next to the titan and hurling this badboy works wonders.

Orbital Bombardment - sucks, SUCKS against the titan, but can bring down the shields very quickly.

Secret Data - lots and lots of shots, low BS? Use Secret Data and for one turn all shots hit on a 2+.

Rokk 'em Boyz!

It's so much fun to scatter in feet!

But yeah, Punch it with Ghazzy, deffrollas, SAGs, Stompas.

Or, if you're feeling froggy, take a few max-size squads of Tankbustas. 480 points for 45 Str8 shots a turn, plus 6+2d6 pen CC grenades? Yes please!

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

If yer an Ork, why dont ya WAAAGH!!

my favorite bit is a klawstompa. specially if you build it out of the IA8 book. for about 660 points you can get something that can pump out alot of shots, some flame/hellstorm templates, move 13", assault 12" and has 8 destroyer attacks in close combat. I take mine with the deff arsenal, head flame belcha, and shoulder mounted supa skorchas. str6 ap3 flame templates roast everything short of a termie, and the deff arsenal is 3d6 str9 shots, plus d3 supa rokkits a turn. first turn assaults across no man's land with a super heavy is devastating. almost as much as one flank marched in

or, build some counts-as grey knight librarians. Build them like Weirdboyz in Mega Armor. Then have each one join a green tide and cast hammerhand and might of titan. After 3 of each, you'll be S10 orks with 4d6 penetration. Even the regular guys.

THAT is how you take down a titan.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
let's see....if you roll 4 1's, that's a glancing hit, so.... almost 400 penetrating hits? Well, 400 attacks, 270ish hit, so "only" 265 or so penetrating hits. SHOULD be enough.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yes I believe my main weakness against Titans is not being familiar enough with the Apoc rulebook and the units therein.

I've looked up the units/assets suggested and with a bunch of plasticard, glue, and blood+sweat+tears, I think I'll give that Reaver a run for its money next game

First of all, if he's 'proxying' a titan with some random toy or piece of junk, that's kind of a dick move - it just opens up the floodgates, next game you can turn up with a load of garden gnomes and announce that they are all warhound titans!

I would deal with a titan much like any other heavy vehicle - use lascannons or similar long-range firepower to strip its shields away, then deepstrike meltaguns or powerfist assault units. I say deepstrike because a savvy opponent will screen his titan with infantry to prevent melta/powerfists crossing the table towards it conventionally.

Stompas are good, but I literally punched one to death with Bjorn Fellhanded. Of all the Super-Heavies, they're the easiest to kill.

To take out the larger Super-Heavies, D-weapons are critical. If you don't have any D-weapons, then you're going to have to just lay down a mass of S9/10 shots, and attack it with PF/PK attacks, meltabombs or, preferably, chainfists (or equivalent).

I had that one SM special character, what's his name, that costs about 300 points, with the sword? Yeah, 2 Apoc games, he took on my Stompa. The first, he managed to chain reaction 3 of my 4 structure points away, the second game, he cut off my TCCW. Then I read the Gargantuan Creature/Walker rules again. And was still worried.

And yeah, remember about using other armies. It's APoc, so anything goes- you can literally take a mob of 10 Gretchin with a Runtherd, and attach 20 Warbosses to it if you want, and have the models. Or Dreddmobs, where you can give a Gargant a 12" KFF for all allied walkers.

Well, I dont know about specific units, but the trick to destroying Imperial titans is to get within 12" so you can bypass their void shields.

It also helps to not allow proxying of titans. He should have proxied a bunch of baneblades or somesuch instead. The best defense against a titan is another titan really.

Adding to the advice, utilize strength 7/8 shots to take down the void shields (high strength single shot weapons are near useless against shields) manticores and tankbustas work for this. Then some outflanking Ghazzy love should take it down

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

A post Brexit Wasteland

Did anybody read why he proxyed a titan? So the forces were equal, and he plays orks so stop suggesting imperial units!

Yes, we understand that, but he didn't need to proxy a titan, and I wouldn't have allowed him to proxy a titan. He could have proxied a variety of other superheavies and made up the points with other units.
