So i have a few questions. For starters I'm looking to get into a new army i chose orks because they look fun and seem pretty goofy.

Im looking for competitive as well as goofy fun where players would be like thats so an ork army.

so ive been pricing some stuff online and ive came up with 2 possibilities for the starting army

buy list 1
6 boxes of ork boyz.
1 box Big Mek with Kff
gives me 60 boyz and an hq.
coming out to about $145

buy list 2
1 box AoBr
1 box ork Battle force
which gives me total 40 ork boyz, a warboss with PK, 3 defkoptas, 3 bikes, 1 trukk, 5 nobz
comes out to about 150.

So what im looking at is what would be more competitive or should i sup one of the box set for other options plus a few more boxes of ork boyz?
just looking for options to get the most out of my money as well as spending as little as possible.

I would reccomend you buy AoBR orks on E-bay. they will be far cheaper and you won't get some undesirable space marines(unless you have a buyer lined up for them)

the Ork battleforce isn't a good deal because it doesn't save you much money(I calculated it saved you $3 before the last price increase)


Buy some AoBR ork sets on E-bay and take the money you saved and buy a couple more boxs of boyz, a couple of Trukks(if you want to go that way), and a box of Nobs.

Buy list one, but instead of two boxes of boyz, get the Ork contents of AoBR. You can get them for $20 from Urban Vikings, but they're almost out:

but yea buy the AoBR ork set is pretty cheap on ebay, pick up the boyz and deff koptas, ignore the nobz and warboss, well maybe get one wasboss but that is it.

they'll be much cheaper, i bought lots of the aobr boys sets for 20 bucks shipped. you'd end up with 60 bucks for 60 boys, koptas atre usually around 15 for 3 3 is good startinfg amount that's $75 warboss if practically free maybe 5 bucks, that's $80 , more money for more boyz or maybe some models to make wagons (BW are better than trukks in most caes but cost more.. fortunatly you can buy some cheap tanks off amazon and conver them to wagons plenty of info online on how to do this

With the black reach set you could use the Nobz and give them power klaws from the boyz box to get some really badass Nobz to lead your boyz squads. Just sayin.

and next week when i get paid ill be getting the 6 boxes of ork boyz with a Big mek with KFF and a box of gretchin

you can only add one klaw per boyz box that you buy, but the boyz boxes come with a nob body legs and arm options including said klaw. I used the AoBR nob bodies as ork biker bodies after some cutting, gluing, cand green stuffing, it turned out well enough, but nobz are best with diversified equipment and unless you wanna do alot of converting or not play wysiwyg the nobz with AoBR are pretty worthless (as nobz) at least imo

Also for footies i want shootas over choppahs?

generally yes of on foot shootas, if on vehicles then often choppas mathammer out better. but in reality its close and depends on if you need to run after disbarking or if you can disembark shoot then assaul (ie do you need to waaagh)

so for my net question whats more idea to take battlewagons for transport or trukks?

and if battlewagons would i leave it barebones with redpaint?

if i add stuff it looses space for models and you are left with footies. just tyring to get an idea of what i want to do.

Always add a Deffrolla. Footies (footies? Sloggers) better in KanWall. Trukk or Wagon? Depends, do you want more boyz in fewer transports, or more transports, each carrying fewer boyz?

Don't bother buying a KFF mek. Konvert one from a Nob or AoBR warboss.

Basically, you can just buy a ton of boyz, then konvert and scratch whatever else you want.
